The Role

The Actuarial Benefit Analyst is a highly analytical role that will push the boundaries of benefits and health analytics in order to drive innovation and create industry-leading solutions in the employee benefits space. As a key member of the Global Benefits and Total Rewards team at Tesla Inc., this individual will leverage predictive analytics, financial modeling, healthcare knowledge and creative problem solving to identify areas for intervention, cost containment, enhancement and improvements. This role requires a healthcare background, proven experience communicating complex financial and actuarial findings, deep understanding of actuarial and quantitative modeling techniques, and a genuine passion for building analytic solutions for a variety of key stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Employ a consultative mindset and use a strategic analytic skillset to produce cross functional key metrics and identify health care cost projections, trends and recommended solutions
  • Construct, implement, and improve actuarial models and maintain global cost dashboards (North America, EMEA & APAC)
  • Estimate actuarial value and impact of plan design changes
  • Manage data warehouse, analytic and reporting needs, identify trends, and present data to senior leadership
  • Design and develop global programs and proactively evaluate improvements to current programs, point solutions and partners
  • Collaborate on global benefit forecasting and align with Finance team on projections
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant administration of assigned programs
  • Conduct financial reporting for self-funded health and welfare plans, and support renewals for North America, APAC and EMEA
  • Use thorough understanding of plan design and administrative procedures to drive cost containment, efficiency and accuracy
  • Continually evaluate current practices to find efficiencies, innovative ways to solve problems, and employ a hands-on approach
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support employees and cross functional teams

Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of Actuary experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or similar area of study
  • Strong analytical, quantitative and technical skillset
  • Strong presentation generation and delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects from concept to implementation
  • Proven experience communicating complex financial and actuarial findings
  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong vendor management, project management, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or FSA preferred
  • Previous consulting experience in this area is a plus
  • Evidence of exceptional ability
