Job Description:

As Application Engineer / Team lead you will join the Application Engineering team with 1 colleague in Bruges and 2 in the United States. You will report directly to the Product Engineering Manager.

Application Engineering is orientated between sales and engineering, so you will have to obtain a broad knowledge of the product range, the operations and applications, and market insight.

Beside your main responsibility as Application Engineer to draft technical proposals for new applications in order to develop new business or maintain existing business, you’re also responsible for keeping the team operating at a high level and improving it.

  • You are the technical contact for the client, whereby you provide the client with timely and correct technical information about the different Dana Off-Highway components.
  • Through a thorough analysis of the application, taking the client’s specifications into consideration, you arrive at a technical proposal for the desired product. To achieve this, you will cooperate with Sales, Product Engineering, Estimating, etc.
  • In case adjustments (small-large) are needed in the product portfolio, you are the project leader of this assignment. You will work closely with diverse internal departmens within engineering, plant, sales,…
  • In your role, you are able to zoom out and engage the macro-aspect of your function: continuous improvement. This concerns cost efficiency, quality, innnovation, client management, market analysis, etc.
  • As teamlead you are responsible for the coordination between different co-workers and the follow-up of their performance to further optimize the team. You will outline a specific course with evaluation moments, taking into account their objectives and context.
Job Requirements:

  • You are a motivated Master-graduate in electromechanics with a specialization in or affinity with hydraulics and mechanics.
  • Beside your education in engineering, you have a couple of years of experience in a responsible/coordinating role, preferably in automotive (transmissions)
  • You are analytically strong, have a keen technical perception, work in a structured manner and you are able to prioritize.
  • You think progressively and innovatively, can adopt a broader view and possess the right dose of decisiveness and a sense of responsibility.
  • You have the necessary commercial intuition and the right soft skills to operate optimally in an international context. You enjoy being in contact with different stakeholders (i.a. clients). It is imperative you are fluent in English.
