The Role: Associate Analyst

Grade (for internal applicants only): 9A

The Location: Denver, CO

The Team:The U.S. Multichannel group is responsible for producing in-depth analysis of the multichannel sector, including (but not limited to) subscriber data, financials, M&A transactions and other industry developments/operational metrics. The team currently consists of three analysts whose responsibilities essentially revolve around the three main platforms making up the industry. Independence, personal initiative and creativity are emphasized, providing the perfect environment for highly motivated individuals.

The Impact: Kagan’s industry benchmarks for the U.S. Multichannel segment are the de facto standard for market sizing and provide key thought-leadership on the broadband and video spaces.  Accordingly, it consistently ranks in the top 2 generators of client traffic on the Market Intelligence platform, playing a crucial role in the company’s sales efforts/financial results. This position is paramount in ensuring the most complete picture of the sector is provided to our clients.

  • Have the opportunity to lead our coverage of the telco and DBS sectors and grow role with increasing coverage of the Canadian media landscape.
  • Travel to industry conferences/trade shows and interview policy makers and market leaders.
  • Become one of the top go-to-sources nationwide for reporters with questions on the sector.
  • Work with a dynamic group of individuals with diverse backgrounds and personalities.

Sample Responsibilities:

  • Collect/compile/model/analyze sector data from both public and private sources.
  • Check data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Contribute research content and analysis to Kagan’s online platform services and publications. Work with Content Managers to ensure data quality.
  • Provide client and company support in obtaining, analyzing and forecasting market data and conditions.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.
  • Assist in developing new products.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Creativity/innovation.
  • Capacity to work independently.
  • Good communications skills.
  • Data gathering/data modeling experience.
  • Strong Excel skills, including fluency in all basic Excel functions
  • Multichannel industry experience a plus.
