Minimum qualifications:

  • JD degree or similar degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  •  3 years of attorney work experience in business development, intellectual property matters and contract law.
  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in California.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience in structuring, drafting and negotiating a diverse range of complex commercial agreements (e.g. intellectual property licensing, inbound services agreement, etc.) or high desire to learn.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully performing in high stakes, high pressure environments.
  • Transportation and logistics experience.
  • Ability to work comfortably and be conversational across different business functions (e.g. product, engineering, supply chain, marketing, finance, compliance, HR) and lines of business (e.g. sales channels, developer program, international markets).

This position will be responsible for supporting Google’s rapidly growing global transportation and logistics operations for consumer hardware, including new and innovative businesses and services. You will serve as the primary lawyer responsible for counseling the business on a broad range of commercial, regulatory and compliance matters for all logistics and transportation initiatives, operations and matters. You will work directly with the business, serving as lead counsel on strategic deals and on the launch of new products and services; negotiating, structuring and drafting complex commercial transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Review, draft and manage licenses and intellectual property agreements, advertising services agreements on a daily basis.
  • Manage agreements that comply with company policies and risk tolerance.
  • Respond promptly to legal requests from Licensing, Business Development, Advertising Sales, Marketing and other clients, summarizing and communicating legal concepts that business people can use.
  • Advise business clients, as well as Finance and other company colleagues, on the legal issues and risks, approval processes, company policies and procedures, IP and business strategy.
  • Support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal processes.
