Summary/Objective

Reporting to the Director of Commercial Planning & Analytics, the Associate Director of Sales Operations must be a seasoned, passionate and proactive leader in pharmaceutical sales operations. The candidate must have vision, be extremely well organized, analytical, detail-oriented and quality-minded with a great focus on delivery.

The Associate Director Sales Operations manages support functions essential to sales force productivity. These include sales target planning, sales process optimization, field analytics, sales program implementation and sales incentive compensation.  They must be able to partner with Sales Leadership, Marketing, Market Access, Finance, and Compliance to identify process improvements in reporting, field IC, analytics, and performance metrics.  The ADSO also must closely manage external vendors to produce deliverables.

The ADSO will perform a key role collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to manage our Commercial data warehouse, field sales reporting, technical sales force automation support and sales force alignments.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and implement sizing and deployment processes to ensure objectives and sales force effectiveness are achieved.
  • Design and implement effective customer call planning and targeting tools to support on-going sales promotion and assist management in evaluating sales productivity/performance.
  • Sales Force Size and Structure: Manage the roster and process to align territories for optimal sales force utilization.
  • Develop report processes for call planning and incentive compensation.
  • Monitor the organization’s compliance with required standards for maintaining CRM data.
  • Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate collection, analysis, management, and dissemination of all field sales reports.
  • Direct relationship with third-party service providers for appropriate functions.
  • Partner with Commercial Planning & Analytics colleagues to maintain data warehouse systems and quality/integrity of data.
  • Monitor department performance against key performance indicators and collaborate with commercial leadership to implement improvements.

Supervisor Responsibilities

This position manages one direct report, the Senior Manager Sales Operations.

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant field
  • Strong leader and develop internal staff
  • Strong cross functional leadership with other departments
  • At least 5+ years incentive comp, sales analytics, data management or related experience in the Commercial Operations in the bio/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Extensive skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and sales data reporting tools.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Access, Business Intelligence tools, or equivalent.
  • Experience with IMS or related pharmaceutical sales data.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Permanent, in-office 40 hours per week.
