About the job

As a member of the Executive and Internal Communications team, you will be part of a team which produces employee communications and events for Google executives. You will work with members of your internal client team on communications initiatives, projects and programs. You will support the work of the team to create strategic communications campaigns, come up with innovative ways to engage employees that are in tune with Google’s culture, write communications, business update presentations and talking points. You will also collaborate with internal partners as needed across functions (PR, Policy, Legal, HR, Operations, etc.) and geographies.

Google Insider is the news platform that keeps Googlers up to date on all things Google. As Associate Editor, you’ll work closely with the editor-in-chief to report, write, and edit stories. You’ll also help manage our global daily newsletter, collaborating with teams across functions and geographies. Adept at managing multiple projects and working to deadlines, you’ll enjoy taking complex, technical topics and communicating them in a concise and compelling way. You will contribute editorial experience, a journalistic eye, and a knack for storytelling. Additionally, you will collaborate regularly with other internal channels, whether that’s helping produce a video or managing logistics for a company all hands.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for sourcing and creating content that informs and inspires Googlers. Together with the Editor-in-Chief, you’ll identify, write, and edit stories about Google’s products, people and initiatives, demonstrating excellent written communication skills and a good working knowledge of the company.

It’s our job to help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders–and our own employees–about the benefits of Google’s products, our distinctive company culture/values, and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. We are looking for quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious people to join the team. To succeed here, you’ll need to be able to combine creativity with the organizational skills to manage numerous different projects to tight deadlines simultaneously, as well as enjoy pitching to all kinds of journalists, bloggers and commentators (we find it hard too!), or producing internal communications and events for our employees. Things happen quickly at Google and to get stuff done here you need to be an enthusiastic team player – a self-starter who can work cross-functionally and isn’t frightened to take risks or try out new ways of doing things.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit stories about Google news, products, and people.
  • Coordinate editorial calendars across Google channels.
  • Keep up to date with Google news and happenings.
  • Help manage and produce editions of the Daily Insider.
