Job Description

The Boeing Company is recruiting for a Communications and Branding Specialist (Mid-Level) in El Segundo, CA.
 
The individual selected will be a highly motivated, creative and digitally savvy communicator to position the company as the industry leader in satellite development and manufacturing.
This experienced Communications Specialist will support the Boeing CST-100 Starliner program at Kennedy Space Center in Florida – part of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Space and Launch Division.
Excellent critical thinking, strategic planning, writing and video skills are a must to support market positioning, messaging and tactical delivery of communications plans.
Successful candidates will apply thorough communications knowledge to plan, research, organize, write, produce and disseminate information to worldwide audiences through broadcast, social, digital, print, presentation and face-to-face tactics to advance the business strategy and support business objectives.
The candidate will support a program manager and subject matter experts. He or she also will collaborate with internal and external partners, including Boeing Satellites leaders, to advance common communications goals.
 
The ideal candidate must have strong writing and editing skills, the ability to use relevant communications tools and processes, and the ability to work with other functions and businesses as part of a geographically dispersed team.
 
 
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Draft and execute strategic communications plans.
  • Handle media relations on a local, national and international level.
  • Prepare program manager and subject matter experts for public speaking and media engagements.
  • Draft and execute digital and social plans, broadcast elements, news releases and internal employee communications.
  • Measure and analyze communication strategy and tactics to optimize effectiveness.
  • Develop internal and external website content.
  • Continuously evaluate innovative communications approaches and tools for using advanced/emerging technology to achieve long-term communications and brand / marketing goals.
  • Collaborate with Brand and Market Positioning teams to promote space products and capabilities.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on event and milestone-driven public relations activities, trade shows, etc.

Qualifications

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
 
Basic Qualifications   (Required Skills/Experience)
  • College degree in Communications, English or Journalism.
  • 2 or more years of experience creating and implementing project or communications plans, strategies and tactics.
  • Experience producing, writing and editing multiple communications deliverables such as social media, news releases, statements, messaging documents, feature stories, speeches, videos, etc.
  • Experience supporting senior leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Media relations experience.
 
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience) 
  • Aerospace industry experience with a preference for satellites experience.
  • Extensive experience with media relations and digital storytelling.
  • The ability to provide strategic communications counsel.
  • Communications, public relations, marketing or related degree.
     
Typical Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s and typically 6 or more years’ related work experience, a Master’s degree and typically 4 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
