Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Consumer Insights Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Consumer Insights Senior Analyst. This position has responsibility for all research related to certain vehicles in the Lexus lineup, which may include sedans, SUVs, and Crossover Utility Vehicles (CUVs), as well as brand and advertising research related to Lexus and its vehicle lineup.
The Consumer Insights Sr. Analyst is responsible for gathering the voice of the customer for a variety of research projects relating to product development, launch activities, market positioning, communication, and deepening our understanding of consumers. Typical projects are: syndicated studies, surveys, focus groups, study teams, marketing and product clinics, and concept testing.
Reporting to the Consumer Insights Manager, the person in this role will support the department’s objective to champion the desires of our consumers to ensure they are at the center of the decisions made by our engineers, product planners, marketers, and executives.
What you’ll be doing
- Giving customer voice to the development of products and marketing communications for Lexus’ near- and entry-level luxury vehicles.
- Consulting with client groups to provide advice on all aspects of the research process, translating business objectives into research questions
- Project management of quantitative and qualitative research projects
- Selecting, designing, and implementing a variety of research methodologies to address relevant research questions
- Analyzing data to generate relevant and actionable consumer insights
- Effectively communicating insights to a variety of audiences, from working-level teams to senior executives
- Pro-actively monitoring and recommending new and innovative ideas/approaches to address changing research needs and priorities
- Managing assigned project financial and operational resources
Qualifications
What you bring
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Economics, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology or a closely related field
- Extensive experience with research methods
- Experience in a variety of research methodologies such as: internet surveys /telephone/mail, ethnographies, one-on-one interviews, focus groups, vehicle clinics
- Expertise in analytic techniques
- Understanding of the applications of various analytic techniques and the ability to explain these techniques to team members and internal clients
- Familiarity with analytic techniques including chi square, t-tests, correlations, regression, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and conjoint analysis
- Understanding of the product planning function and marketing/advertising function
- Proven ability to interpret and synthesize large amounts of quantitative and qualitative data
- Understanding of and ability to write quantitative surveys based on agreed set of business questions and research objectives
- Ability to write concise and insightful reports, and to effectively communicate research findings to a diverse business audience
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to effectively lead, coach, and develop cross functional project teams; strong relationship building skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
Added bonus if you have
- An MBA or other advanced degree in Economics, Psychology, Anthropology, Sociology, or a closely related field
- Deep understanding of the automotive industry
- Experience or strong interest in diversity market research
- Diversity research experience
- Experience with mTab and/or SPSS
