Summary

Responsible for the implementation of security risk management principles to ensure the protection of property, assets, people and business reputation. The application of security measures should be in accordance with formal assessed levels of security risk.

Primary Responsibilities

• Perform services to assure the safety and protection of property and personnel against injury, loss or damage from any preventable cause.
• Supervise and oversee all security functions within the 01 Fricker Road JPM Building. Active involvement in the interview, selection, induction and training of all new vendor security employees.
• Train and schedule programs and functions to all vendor security personnel.
• To assist the SSA Senior Security Manager (SSM) in implementing security as a core business function to be adopted by the whole office, keeping physical security measures under constant review to ensure they are adequate to meet current threats to business, evaluate changes, showing advantages and disadvantages, costs etc. and present to the SSM.
• Report any significant security breaches to the SSM; undertake full investigation; recommend course of action in consultation with the SSM and local Management. Liaise with, and guide, law enforcement agencies to ensure all incidents are investigated in full.
• Implement access and egress control procedures relating to Employees, Visitors and Deliveries within the 01 Fricker Road JPM Building.
• Minimize risks through the application of risk appropriate security systems. (Access Control, CCTV, Intruder Alarms, Etc.)
• Liaison with law enforcement agencies to stay abreast of local threats and risks.
• Event Security.
• Prepare and conduct awareness security training.
• Develop physical security responses to all security threats (24/7).
• Manage processes for protecting classified, proprietary, and sensitive information.
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act No. 85 of 1993.
• Scheduling ad-hoc inspections to ensure security officers are performing their functions as expected.

Essential

• Recognized security qualification.
• PSIRA Grade B Registered.
• Security professional with proven supervisory experience (minimum 5 years) within the security industry corporate sector.
• Enthusiastic and committed approach with a track record of building strong, trusted base relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels
• A sound working knowledge of security best practice and legislation affecting the security role
• Strong supervisory and leadership skills together with excellent communication, influencing, negotiating and engagement skills
• Basic IT skills with a working knowledge of the range of MS Office packages.
• Knowledge of electronic security systems.
• Sound judgement and decision making skills, with a ‘hands on’, problem solving approach, able to remain calm under pressure and take control of incidents
• Experience of writing procedures, drafting reports, preparing business cases
• Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.
