PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Simon is seeking an experienced leader for our Network, Telecommunication and Cyber Security teams.  This position will oversee the delivery and maintenance of network infrastructure, telecommunications, cyber security and associated systems to ensure a safe, secure platform for the company’s business operations and communications.

The Director, Network and Telecommunication Services has direct responsibility and accountability for overseeing and driving a variety of complex systems to ensure all perform within agreed targets.  The position is accountable for the successful execution of programs and policies coinciding with the goals of the department, the business and the company.  They will be responsible for leading and managing a team of direct reports, as well as various consultants supporting their project and programs.  This position will work collaboratively across the company to assure system availability, performance and security.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Directs the activities of the Network, Telecommunication and Cyber Security teams, continuously striving to improve systems stability and availability
  • Ensure that all home office, remote office and property employees are able to access network and telecommunication systems securely and reliably
  • Drive teams to achieve a higher regard for technical competency and professionalism
  • Identify needs and opportunities to improve systems, oversee the design and delivery of improvements, as well as streamline operations and procedures
  • Create a collaborative team environment, fostering cross-functional support; provide hands-on management to further facilitate smooth operating teams and systems
  • Conduct planning sessions, effectively communicating priorities to both executive management and participating teams members
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the business and how field offices are integrated, via technology, to the home office
  • Develop a proactive monitoring and management process to anticipate and minimize network and communication system interruptions
  • Manage resource availability to ensure proper allocation to support systems and any issues
  • Facilitate the investigation into any issues, uncovering root cause and providing solutions to prevent recurrence
  • Oversee the management and negotiation of software, hardware and telecommunication service contracts, drive terms and conditions to the benefit of the company
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical skills and problem solving abilities.  Correctly define business problems/requirements and implement timely, effective solutions
  • Manage assigned staff and provide support in the development of staff skills
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process, ensuring proper consideration for software and hardware maintenance, telecommunications, training and education and professional services
  • Ability to communicate cross-functionally
  • Work in conjunction with other areas of the department to ensure the delivery of systems and communications is meeting the needs of the end user (e.g. field offices, customer Wi-Fi, traffic counting)
  • Stay informed about the changing threat horizon and updates in technology
  • Understand the implications and timing of hardware/software upgrades, coordinate with appropriate business areas and schedule in such a way to minimize impact on business processes
  • Act as a catalyst for change to improve processes that benefit the company

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering
  • Proven management and leadership capabilities
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal skills
  • Oversight responsibility and hands-on experience implementing, networking technology including extensive experience with the following:  Ethernet, LAN, WAN, WLAN, Firewall, TCP/IP
  • Thorough understanding of Cisco networking hardware including hubs, routers, switches and concentrators, VPN firewalls and load balancers
  • Thorough understanding of firewalls, Security Incident and Event Management (SIEM), Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) systems a plus
  • Strong knowledge of wireless technologies, protocol and standards, network management and analysis tools
  • Strong technical knowledge of anti-virus software, firewalls, instruction detection systems, network security measures, network routing including EIGRP/OSPF, cable infrastructure, video voice and web conference technologies, data privacy practice laws
  • Proven project management experience
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to bring conflicting viewpoints to consensus, assemble a cohesive team
  • Clearly communicates results to all levels of management
  • As appropriate, challenge the validity of given procedures and processes with a view toward enhancement or improvement
