Role Summary:Focused on driving disruptive ideation and leading innovative MVP’s in the digital industrial space through cross-functional collaboration, this role is fast paced, innovative and geared toward integrating new digital technologies such as big data, machine learning, edge computing and additive manufacturing with GE’s industrial asset base to enable new commercial and internal productivity opportunities.Essential Responsibilities:This role is looking for a candidate with extensive data science experience who is looking to build on that domain expertise and branch out to drive new projects in digital disruption at GE Transportation. The candidate will guide, lead, or otherwise contribute to data science or cross-disciplinary team on commercially and internally-facing development projects, typically involving large, complex data sets. This candidate will also be the project leader and champion for each project that is taken on.•Work closely with product management and internal Strategic Initiatives team to understand the “voice of our customer” to build solutions that address a pain point and brings value to the customer (internal or external)•Be a technical cross-functional leader with organizations such as, services, additive manufacturing, locomotive, marine and mining engineering groups to drive new digital solution opportunities•Be the technical data science expert within the Engineering Strategic Initiatives team who can help identify, guide, develop and execute new digital solutions within our organization •Work with functional Engineering teams to identify ways in which to use cloud and edge-based applications to drive simplification and productivity in using big data•Liaison between functional Engineering, Software Developers and Analytics teams to link capabilities with needs •Identify opportunities to scale identified applications and execute on implementation•Develop and provide training of applications to Engineering and other users•Lead application developers in creation of applications•Be a thought leader for new disruptive digital solutions by engaging in external collaboration efforts with startups, incubators and universities•Act as coach for to others in driving digital industrial solutions across all functional engineering areasQualifications/Requirements:– Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science from an accredited university or college, or relevant and significant industry experience.- A minimum of 7 years of technical experience in an engineering business- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a data scientist with established skills in advanced data analytics, predictive modeling, ML & AIDesired Characteristics:• Demonstrated skill in data management methods and analytic scaling• Demonstrated skill in solutions integration•Demonstrated thought leader with an interest in working on Digital Industrial transformation•Demonstrated change agent with strong credibility and ability to influence across the organization•Demonstrated engineering thought leader with experience developing and executing engineeringsolutions for businesses to gain efficiency•Application development experience•Demonstrated commitment for process improvement•Strong interpersonal and leadership skills•Strong technical background•Experience with product management•Strong command & working knowledge of engineering workflow processes•Proven experience in the Transportation business•Strong command & working knowledge of engineering workflow processesAbout Us:GE is the world’s Digital Industrial Company, transforming industry with software-defined machines and solutions that are connected, responsive and predictive.
