Job Description:

The Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) Protected Communications Systems Hardware Department is seeking a Digital Design Engineer to join our team in Marlborough, MA. The Protected Communications Systems Hardware Department leads the mechanical and electrical hardware development and production of DoD and Government Communications Systems. These systems provide critical communications on land air and sea platforms.

This is an entry-level electrical engineering position in the PCS Hardware Department. This is an opportunity for an early career engineer to gain experience in the digital hardware design, fabrication, assembly, test, and integration of circuit card assemblies and subsystems with an emphasis on design of boards containing FPGA circuits and digital and analog interfaces. Knowledge of analog design techniques, including operational amplifiers, data converters, and power regulator designs at the circuit card level is desirable. The designer will interface with printed wire boards (PWB) designers to oversee layout, routing, and manufacturing of designs. The designer will be responsible for test and integration of these designs into the larger systems.
As a Digital Design Engineer, you may be involved with any of the following activities: Circuit analysis, circuit simulation, design documentation maintenance, troubleshooting and resolution of hardware performance issues and hardware integration, test and verification.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Required Skills:

  • Basic/fundamental electrical/electronic engineering classes in circuit theory/analysis in analog/digital design
  • Experience with hands on troubleshooting and / or debugging of hardware with standard test equipment (i.e., Vector Network Analyzers, Power Meters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, DMMs, signal sources)
  • Familiarity with high speed interfaces for memories, FPGA’s, and processors
  • Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the electrical engineering fields and general knowledge of other related disciplines
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Ability to demonstrate delivery quality and timely results
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to multi-task
  • Experience with MS Office tool suite
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics Design tool suite
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects

Required Education (including major):
Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or equivalent
