Description

 As the Environmental Project Estimator we will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting, large scale projects. Each day, you will be an important team member as you prepare estimates for projects of varying size and complexity. prepare a wide range of estimates – from conceptual to detailed design – for complex environmental, operations and maintenance, military and government facility projects. Review design documents, proposals, specifications, drawings, attend engineering design development meetings, make site visits and other duties as required to define the scope of work and cost impacts required of the estimate process. Prepare estimates by developing project work breakdown structures, calculating complete scope of work take-offs, assist contracts staff with statements of work for subcontractors and vendors, apply construction means and methods, prepare schedules, calculate indirect field and owner’s costs. Demonstrate an extensive understanding of estimating organizational structure and process, including quantity takeoff, crew development, productivity relationships, material quotations, knowledge of markup structures and estimate documentation. Display significant Excel experience as well as deep knowledge of industry estimating software. Review bids, estimates and change orders prepared by engineering contractors and construction contractors. Prepare reports and presentations for internal reviews and for our clients. Provide guidance to design teams with regard to the quality and amount of input necessary to develop required level of design build construction estimates. Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, actual costs, etc. into unit and man-hour figures. Qualifications

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)  
  • 10 years of experience estimating conceptual and detailed design estimates for multi-discipline projects 
  • Proficient skills in the area of current technology (word, excel, estimating software, etc.) that is required to be efficient in the delivery of project estimates, project delivery and other related activities to deliver work
  • Adept at interpersonal relationship building and conflict resolution  
  • Able to travel to meet project needs 
  • Technical: Candidate must have an understanding of the cost analysis process.
  • Past experience with the preparation of successful price proposals (e.g., Labor Hour, Cost Plus, Time and Material, Firm Fixed Price) is preferred.
  • Additionally, candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly with MS Excel.
  • Language: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with a strong business background
  • Other: Work may be required after hours and on weekends, and sometimes on short notice.
  • Must be willing and able to travel.
  • Unusual or Special Physical Requirements of Position:  Must be able to sit at a computer for extended periods.
  •  Work Environment:  Regular Office/Cubicle environment Equipment and Machines Computer (90%); General Office equipment.
  •  Attendance:  Attendance is critical at all times to ensure response to customer requirements (100%).
  • Work, including overtime, may be required after hours and on weekends, and sometimes on short notice.
  •  Other Essential Functions:  Must take and pass a drug test and background check.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management or related field or equivalent work experience 
  • Proficient in Federal Engineering Project Pricing experience  
  • Extensive experience in the application of the Federal Acquisition Regulations for cost and pricing 
  •  Ability to lead a team of estimating staff on large projects. 
  • 25 years of experience estimating conceptual and detailed design estimates for energy multi-million dollar construction projects 
  • You should be a self-motivated, detail oriented professional
