The Facilities organization at Boeing Portland is seeking a (level 2/entry levelFacilities Plant Engineer, Mechanical to support the Core Maintenance team in the plating shops and waste water treatment plants. 
 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • This position will be responsible for project management of improvemnet projects and assting the maintenance team with problem solving and troubleshooting.  This includes working closely with our customers to drive toward solutions. 
  • Provides engineering support in all areas (e.g., design, reliability, cost engineering, drawing and specification development) for all Boeing Portland wet processing areas.
  • With limited supervision, supports or manages construction projects by providing input on vendor selection; reviews contractor proposals; interfaces with government/regulatory agencies; monitors project progress and vendor/consultant performance.  
  • With limited supervision, translates customer requirements into design options with documents and estimates.
  • With limited supervision, provides input to infrastructure planning; completes studies; analyzes current conditions and future requirements; recommends capital improvements; gathers and analyzes data; and works with both internal and external customers in order to identify and assess alternatives and impacts.
  • Estimates resource costs/requirements, identifies materials, equipment, and services, and develops preliminary project schedule in order to establish project scope.
  • Acquires and modifies assets to enable the customer to achieve the defined business objectives in accordance with company and accounting policies.
  • Assists in the creation of contract scope.
  • Must be customer service oriented.

Qualifications

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
     

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated ability with continuing education

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Mechanical Engineering degree
  • Experience managing to project schedules and budgets
  • Demonstrated ability to develop specifications, drawings and cost estimates.
  • Has developed and implemented testing and acceptance of equipment to validate that equipment performance meets the documented specifications.
  • Has developed and recommended equipment reliability improvements through the application of reliability engineering tools.
 

Typical Education and Experience:

Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor’s and 2 or more years’ experience or a Master’s degree with experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
