Job Description

Field Operators are responsible for daily operations of natural gas production equipment. They operate production packs and compressors in a field setting in a safe and efficient manner.

Health, Safety, Security and Environmental:

  • Be familiar with the Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) Management System and actively participate in its implementation
  • Understand and support the importance of sustainable development
  • Be able to recognize job hazards, stop work and correct the situation
  • Actively participate in Management of Change (MOC) issues
  • Actively participate in the Behavior Based Safety Management (BBSM)
  • Develop an understanding of the Contractor Safety Management
  • Have an understanding and good working knowledge of HSS&E standards such as the, Risk Matrix, Permit To Work and Lock Out / Tag Out
  • Utilize work procedures to safely execute job tasks
  • Be able to review, update and present job procedures to peers
  • Demonstrate defensive driving behaviors

Interpersonal – Teamwork – Communications:

  • Work well in a team environment
  • Work with team members to understand failures and establish preventative maintenance procedures
  • Work with other field surveillance team members to standardize data input, data extraction and measurement for benchmarking purposes
  • Work with team members to share and implement best practices
  • Work with all teams to encourage rapid implementation of opportunities to improve operating efficiency and expense reduction
  • Notify supervisor/staff associate of repairs requiring 30-plus minutes or needing materials or contract services not immediately available
  • Assist supervisor/staff associate in coordinating contractor activities related to production surveillance activities and tasks
  • Assist supervisor/staff associate utilizing IT tools to reduce repetitive equipment failures resulting in call outs and overtime
  • Communicate with the supervisor/staff associate regarding potential well/facility problems, lift optimization and enhancement opportunities

Technical:

  • Capable of operating single and multi-well gas / condensate facilities
  • Thoroughly understand and have experience operating 2 & 3-phase separators
  • Through working knowledge of SCADA systems, review reports and prioritize daily work tasks
  • Assist in the development of a Clean, Lubricate, Adjust, Inspect and Repair (CLAIR) task list and implement it as the primary directive for daily well surveillance
  • Monitor online time and current production rates of all wells to ensure maximum well uptime and performance
  • Understand custody transfer procedures for condensate sales, this includes internal guidelines such as tank gauging procedures and external guidelines
  • Compare well production actual rates against well production targets and assist in the development and execution of action plans to close the gap
  • Respond to well shutdown alarms as directed by the SCADA system
  • Respond to all facility or well alarms when on call
  • Thoroughly understand facility and well safety shutdown systems – cause and effect
  • Use IT tools to monitor well and facility online time
  • Key enabler in improving facility uptime, well performance and overall production delivery by understanding of the overall surveillance objectives and associated work processes
  • Must be experienced in gas/oil well-producing operations including natural flow and other forms of artificial lift such as rod pumps
  • Must understand hydrate formation and have experience regarding the safe removal of hydrates
  • Is a subject matter expert on facility operations and works to promote operational excellence across geographic and operational areas
  • Must be willing to learn SAP to input equipment repair notifications
  • Submit regular time and exceptions to central timekeeper

Requirements

Must be authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without the requirement of a work visa

  • This position requires hires to reside proximate to the site to respond to call-outs and emergencies. Distance varies by location, but generally 50 – 70 miles is the limit.
  • Willing to work a shift schedule of up to 8 consecutive days
  • Willing to work overtime, holidays, nights, and weekends
  • Willing to be on call and meet call-out standards to respond to site responsibilities and emergencies
  • Possess a current, valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the United States
  • As a part of the pre-employment selection process, candidates are required to submit to and receive satisfactory results from all pre-employment background, drug, medical, and reference checks, including hair and oral fluids drug testing
