As Finance Manager Power you will be part of the global Shell Trading Finance team and you will report to the VP Finance Shell Energy Europe and Environmental Products, London. This excellent opportunity will give you the opportunity to contribute to growing and shaping the future of Shell’s power business.

Your Team

This is a newly created position to lead the finance support for Shell Power Trading. The role will (initially) have no direct reports. You will be supported by a pool of finance advisors that work across our Gas, Power and Environmental Products Trading activities based with you in the London office and in our sales offices. You will also work with a broad group of finance specialists (Risk, Accounting, Reporting, Planning & Appraisal, Treasury, M&A, Credit, Settlements) based in our London and various other locations globally. In addition you will be an active leader in a global network of Finance Managers across our Trading and New Energies businesses and beyond.

Key deliverables

  • Lead the finance aspects of our Power Trading business in Europe supporting our Power growth ambition and ensuring business in control.
  • Provide expert support and guidance to our finance advisor pool in London and our Sales offices on executing their projects
  • Contribute to the development of Power competencies across the Shell Energy and New Energies teams globally

Location and travel

Initially you will be based from our Shell Strand office, London where our Gas&Power Trade floor is located. In Q4 2019 our business will relocate to new offices at Shell Centre, Waterloo, London.  To support our European growth ambition some travel will be required to our Sales Offices currently in Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Turkey.

Requirements

Required skills/experience

  • Previous experience in a senior Commercial/Business Finance or M&A role
  • Oil/gas exposure is preferable but not essential.
  • Experience within Power/Renewable Energies is highly advantageous
  • Able to establish credibility at the relevant level with management, (power) traders and project teams
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, good commercial acumen and the ability to operate within a dynamic rapidly changing environment
  • Strong people management skills including coaching and developing staff
  • Qualification (or expectation to complete/obtain) in a relevant professional field (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACT, CFA) – preferred but not essential
