Role Summary:

Assume overall responsibility for the financial affairs of the three legal entities that make up GE South Africa’s Supplier Development Vehicle. Oversee the financial management and related matters of the SDV to ensure that it is financially sound in order able to achieve it’s overall objective of building sustainable black suppliers in GE’s South African supply chain

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Liaison with key stakeholders of the SDV including the Trustees, Directors, independent auditors, accounting services provider, fund manager, GE supply chain term, company secretary
  • Coordinating transactions relating to the SDV such as drawn downs, repayments, interest relating to loans advanced and received
  • As well dividends, distributions to beneficiaries, payments to services providers
  • Overseeing the preparation and review of audited financial statements, monthly management accounts, regulatory filings
  • Preparation of budgets, loan schedules and reviewing financial performance
  • Ensuring that the good corporate governance is adhered – through understanding the legal agreements, trust deeds, memorandum of incorporating relating to the SDV
  • Good working knowledge of SA tax law and BBBEE Codes of Good Practice
  • Assist in the development and execution of the SSA supplier development programmes
  • Initiation of transactions required by Londvolota Investment Trust, Londvolota Development Trust and the Londvolota Enterprise Development (Pty) Ltd (“the SDV Structure”) including not limited to declaration and payment of dividends, distributions to beneficiaries, drawn down and repayment of loans, interest income / expense to be processed by an external accounting services provider
  • Performing the yearly valuation of GE South Africa

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college/ CA (SA) qualification (Advantageous) or equivalent knowledge or experience
  • Minimum of 5 years professional work experience
  • Good commercial acumen, business sense, sound decision-making skills and the ability to understand and interpret legal agreements (including multiple loan agreements, agreements with service providers, trust deeds, memorandum of incorporation etc.)
    Preference will be given to EE candidates

Desired Characteristics:

  • Ability to work under pressure and with deadlines
  • Knowledge of company valuations such as discounted free cash flow, net asset value, earning multiple methods – in order the perform the valuation of GE South Africa (Pty) Ltd and updating the Notional Vendor Financing accounts of the SDV structure at year-end
  • Good working knowledge of SA tax law and BBBEE Codes of Good Practice
