AP invites applications for the position of Financial Accountant based at its office in London.

This is a key role within the financial accounting team helping to ensure effective financial management and the smooth running of the month and year end accounting processes.  This is a varied and broad ranging role operating across several areas within the department. 

 

Main duties:

 

This is a key role working across several areas for three entities within AP. 

 

  • Cost centre management accounting across many business areas, posting month end cost accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, generating P&L reports and providing analysis vs budget, forecasts and prior periods.
  • Managing the prepayment accounts across all entities including deferred event costs, posting necessary journals and providing balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Managing the intercompany accounts and working with New York and Regional Accountants to clear reconciling items.
  • Preparation of intercompany invoicing.
  • Working closely with the Deputy Director of Global Video Operations to manage fixed circuit communication costs, including accruals postings, prepayments and variance analysis.

 

  • Preparing Trial balances at month end, investigating variances for review with finance management to aid accuracy of month end close.

 

  • Bank reconciliations across multi-currency bank accounts (9 accounts) and liaison with Treasury, and Collections teams to clear unposted items.

 

  • Providing balance sheet support for all intercompany accounts, bank reconciliations, prepayments and other accounts such as guarantee deposits and customs duty.  Providing analysis of month on month movements.
  • Provision of information for annual, interim & internal audits.

 

  • Completion of Office of National Statistic Forms.

 

  • Preparing VAT returns and the EC Sales list reports.

 

  • Raising purchase orders for Finance.

 

  • Cover for petty cash and cash float administration.

 

  • Management of the joint venture reconciliation account.

 

  • Assisting with statutory accounts preparation under IFRS across 2 legal entities.

 

  • Assisting the Financial Controller & Senior Financial Accountant as required throughout the month and on ad hoc finance projects.

 

 

Skills, knowledge and experience

  • At least 2 to 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience of SAP accounting system preferable
  • Experience of working with multi-currencies
  • Excel skills to intermediate level
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Strong analytical skills with good attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Experience working to tight deadlines
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure

 

Qualifications

  • Part qualified (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) or qualified (AAT) preferred
  • Educated to degree level preferable / GCSE level A to C in English and Maths
