The Role: Chief Platform Officer, S&P Global Technical Product Platforms

The Team:
The S&P Global Data, Technology & Innovation team is a creative team of experts collaborating across divisions and driving continuous improvements in platform innovation and usability.  We are now looking for a leader in this space to drive growth and expansion of our platform capabilities.

The Impact:

This position, reporting to the Chief Data & Technology Officer, will lead a customer-focused approach to implementing product platforms and S&P Global’s Platforms as a Service initiative. The position interacts with clients/prospects, technology, data and product management teams, and engages with leadership and peers across the divisions.

What’s in it for you:

This position provides the opportunity to play a highly involved strategic role across S&P Global. Through partnerships with divisional Chief Technology Officers, Chief Data Officers, Chief Product Officers and Commercial Teams, you will assess and prioritize platform needs, drive cross divisional integration and identify market and competitive influences to drive platform innovation and expansion.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team (~15 Platform Managers and UX Designers) that establishes core platform features across S&P Global including but not limited to desktop, MS Office plug-ins, mobile, feeds, API, and Marketplace solutions.
  • Partner with the Division Product Managers to ensure successful delivery of the S&P Global Platform as a Service program, and the successful release of Division projects related to the Platform.
  • Partner with the Division Technology Teams to ensure successful delivery of S&P Global Platform as a Service program, including delivery of core components and support for open platform development.
  • Identify, prioritize and gain support for the S&P Global Platform as a Service road-map
  • Develop and implement platform management strategy
  • Drive execution from concept through launch
  • Measure success

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of platform development, UX design, product management and leadership experience
  • Proven experience working with Open Platforms and Open Source Tools
  • Proven experience working in User Interface and User Experience Design Product Platforms
  • Proven relationship building skills, previous experience working in a matrixed environment
  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution of large-scale initiatives within a complex organizational structure
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas effectively, strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Prior experience in an agile and an automated development ops culture

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with a focus in software engineering, UX, platform development or a related subject
  • High degree of comfort navigating a large organization, building relationships, selling ideas with diplomacy, working and communicating effectively with people at all levels of seniority
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Adept at moderating and facilitating product design discussions
  • Experience with financial platforms and workflows and/or information service platforms preferred
  • Project Management skills – not necessary to be a certified project manager, but someone with a sense of urgency when required, and a head for scheduling and planning, who can efficiently and effectively guide a small group towards a goal, set up meetings, delegate, etc.
