Job Description

This role leads Behavioral Safety Team and engagements driving cultural change to achieve Goal Zero. The position has responsibility to support contractor safety activities and operations.  Additionally, the oversight of all Incidents (Potential, Near Miss and Actuals).

Principal Accountabilites

  • Drives culture change by leading Behavioral Safety Team and engagements, creating and delivering timely themes aimed to modify undesired cultural behaviors.
  • Leads a diverse team of professionals in developing material, creating messages, photography, videography and public speaking in delivering site wide messages.
  • Focal Point for Incident & Investigation Reporting standards and associate FIM gatekeeper.
  • Focal Point for Investigation Management to include leading/facilitating investigations using methods such as Causal Learning, 5 Why, Tri-Pod etc.
  • Provides field safety support and guidance on acceptable safety and health practices.
  • Focal point/Custodian of site HSE Bulletin, gather relevant HSE news, format and share with site audience.
  • Assist in Incident Notification, Classification, Investigation and Reporting practices. Provide guidance to managers & supervisors in proper Classification of incidents per Company and OSHA guidelines.
  • Focal Point for all Driver Safety initiatives to include DDT, Business Travel, Driver Safety, Professional Driver Safety, Journey Management.
  • Champions and leads Safety planning; developing strategic plans, safety processes, and driving improvement programs across multi-functional teams.
  • Serves as focal point developing Safety standards and procedures to include identification of standards for development, prioritization of standards development, developing the standards, managing the review and comment period, and the issuance of the final standard so that there is consistent application and understanding.
  • Serves as focal point for critical safety processes as Incident & Investigation Reporting, Business Travel, Driver Safety, Professional, Driver Safety, Journey Management and Defensive Driving Awareness.
  • Where necessary takes more formal intervention to ensure compliance. Generally, carries out, and acts upon, hazard spotting.  Actively engages with the workforce to help them improve their safety performance.
  • Contributes to Stand-downs, providing topics and facilitating delivery as required.  Shares learning / good practices with other field safety inspectors.  Key role in contractor.
  • Oversight; safety planning, including contributing to risk assessment and advising on the control of potential safety hazards associated with work to be conducted at the site.
  • Builds sustainable relationships using the Trust Equation and integrates well with facility teams to collaborate and gain cooperation.
  • Drives safety into the natural work processes of the various facilities teams.
  • Provides oversight of the safety action tracking system to ensure that key actions are acted upon and managed through to completion.
  • Conducts gap assessments of Site guidance documents against Company policy providing technical writing updates of procedures, policies, and forms.
  • Develops communications plans for significant changes to Safety related documentation targeting affected personnel.Prepares and presents approved crafted, safety messages to various audiences.
  • Provides oversight of regulatory compliance for assigned facility operations through safety walks of the facility.
  • Engages in contractor safety management (screening, assessing, On-boarding, supporting, and evaluation).
  • Collaborates on teams to deliver industrial hygiene plans (heat stress, noise, dust, radiation, chemical handling and use).
  • Audits the health of process barriers, identifies solutions for weaknesses found, and communicates to stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an HSE related field preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of direct Safety experience with emphasis on knowledge of OSHA regulations and incident investigations using root cause methodology.
  • Recognized HSE certification: CSP/ASP (preferred) CHST/OHST (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated success implementing behavioral-based programs to improve HSE culture.
  • Experience in Contractor HSE Management, project management and organizational effectiveness.
