Job Description

Support HF Regional Lead (Americas) in delivering HF technical support to Shell Businesses and Projects in the Americas region.

Responsibilities:

  • To deliver high quality technical guidance and leadership as delegated by regional lead.
  • To act as technical authority (TA) for Human Factors Engineering (HFE) to capital projects as delegated.
  • To support group level activities contributing to risk reduction and business improvement via strategic implementation of HF principals and knowledge.
  • Deliver training and assist in supporting and mentoring other disciplines requiring HFE competence.
  • To assist in managing and providing quality assurance of deliverables from HFE specialists from external contractors.
  • To liaise, assist and advise, other Health professionals in supporting compliance with group standards on HFE, Fatigue, Office Ergonomics and other relevant HF risk areas.
  • To advise regional HF lead on changes and improvements to HF policy, standards, tools and processes to improve quality input and value of HF implementation in Shell.
  • Advise regional HF lead on changes in technology, regulations and external standards and other matters that may impact HF implementation in Shell.
  • Maintain and develop own individual professional competency to support HF career development in Shell.
Internal Interfaces:
  • Supports Global Discipline lead for HF and interfaces with other Health disciplines.
  • To interact with project engineering community including Technical Safety and Production/Operations in all Shell businesses.
External Interfaces:
  • As directed by the HF regional lead, to represent Shell on selected external bodies.
  • Interact with engineering contractors and other external suppliers involved in delivering HF services or equipment to Shell.
  • To assist in managing and providing quality assurance of deliverables from HF specialists from external contractors.

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • Board Certified Human Factors Professional or eligible for certification.
  • Minimum of five (5) years in a role responsible for the application of HF on capital projects and/or operational environment.
  • Oil and gas industry experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • A fast learner able to quickly adapt to new situations.
  • Willing to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Ability to champion the integration of HF in risk based, valued driven, dynamic, multi disciplinary and multi cultural project and business environments.
  • Ability to be innovative and creative in applying HF principals and techniques.
