The Role: Junior Relationship Manager,Relationship Management Team(S&P Global Market Intelligence)

The Team:

The S&P Global Market Intelligence Commercial team in Tokyo is made up of experienced finance professionals including those with background in equity research, investment banking, commercial lending and data solution sales and the team is currently searching for a Junior Relationship Manager (RM) to join their Relationship Management Team. This role will work closely with senior relationship managers, other junior relationship managers, new business sales members, the client support team and product teams to grow and support S&P Global Market Intelligence’s existing business in Japan across a wide variety of client types and segments.

What’s in it for you:

S&P Global Market Intelligence is currently searching for a Junior Relationship Manager to join the Relationship Management team in Tokyo. Working closely with Senior Relationship Managers and other Junior RMs, this Junior Relationship Manager will be responsible for supporting a large number of our existing clients across all the segments we serve including commercial lending and insurance, investment banking, investment management and non-financial corporates.

The Junior RM will be tasked to provide day to day support to Senior RMs for managing user lists, contract invoicing, SFDC maintenance, contract processing and all other administrative tasks required and will also provide user trainings and/or product demos to clients in a group or individual settings. The junior RM is also expected to collect feedback from users on how to improve the S&P Global Market Intelligence service and share that feedback with our product teams for future enhancement ideas.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Senior Relationship Managers and help manage a client roster of about 20-30 accounts within the Japan Key Accounts or across the broader book of business in Japan in an effort to promote increased usage of our products including Capital IQ, Market Intelligence (previously known as SNL) and RatingsDirect platforms and drive growth in the existing user base and seek upsell opportunities for these services
  • Proactively keep up to date on all our product offerings including product enhancements and content additions and have a deep understanding of how our products are being used within our clients’ workflow
  • Analyze client usage trends to identify growth and risk areas and formulate and execute on account strategy plans working closely with Senior Relationship Managers
  • Provide day to day support to users including answering questions on existing user agreements, how to use our products, data inquires, etc
  • Drive promotion of our services through email campaigns and other client outreach activities including regular training sessions for new users
  • Coordinate and provide product demonstrations in line with the client’s requirements which includes visiting potential and existing clients to present new functionality and training existing users individually or in a group setting
  • Actively participate in discussions with clients and help Senior Relationship Managers manage the existing book of business and contract renewals including handling of pricing discussions, contract negotiations and managing contracts and invoices, etc
  • Identify key client contacts at junior to mid-levels and establish relationships with these contacts to further strengthen our relationship with the client with the aim of better understanding their workflow and potential needs and to keep on top of market trends
  • Gathering competitive intelligence to uncover potential changes in clients’ business needs; turning client feedback into actionable strategies to drive new business and address competitive risks
  • Utilize CRM system (Salesforce.com) to keep the details of client  activities and meeting memos up to date in the system in a timely manner
  • Generate new contract documents, process renewal orders and coordinate renewal process management with Order Management, ,Product, Legal, Finance and other teams
  • Support Senior RMs in managing administrative tasks including user list maintenance, user change processing, invoice issuance and tracking, contract processing, etc

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 1-2 years direct working experience preferably in the financial industry in a client facing (sales or client services) or analytical role (investment banking, equity research, commercial lending, money management, credit analysis or financial consulting preferred) but those with no financial industry background will also be considered if they demonstrate a strong interest in the financial markets
  • Fluent in Japanese and high business level of oral and written English skill required
  • Has a proactive and inquisitive mindset, is eager to learn and grow and is passionate about servicing clients
  • Strong ability to communicate with clients in a clear and logical manner with strong presentation and relationship building skills
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to perform routine, repetitive tasks accurately

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team-based environment
  • Established time management skills
  • Corporate Finance knowledge a plus
  • MBA, CFA or CPA candidates are welcome
  • Experience living outside of Japan or having worked with clients or colleagues from diverse backgrounds
  • Experience having used other data vendor services such as Capital IQ, Market Intelligence (SNL), Factset, Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters, Uzabase, Moody’s, Fitch, etc would be a plus
