Position Title: Lead CAD Drafter / Lead BIM Drafter
Reports to: CAD Manager / BIM Manager
Position Summary:
CAD/BIM Drafter Level 2: This technical level performs routine CAD/BIM work requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out responsible tasks. Limited judgment on details of work and in making preliminary selections or adaptations of CAD/BIM alternatives. Requires work experience acquired in an entry-level position.Assignments may include work that is typical of a higher level. Supervisor screens assignments, selects techniques and procedures. Receives close supervision.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- No responsibility for direction of others
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform CAD/BIM support – drafting, plotting, plotter maintenance, Record documents
- Perform CAD/BIM tasks assigned by CAD/BIM Manager
- CAD/BIM markups of the electrical power and lighting systems
- Assemble design drawings and documents and provide or coordinate delivery
- Fully understands and performs the processes of new job set-up
- Develop understanding of basic Design, Panel Schedules and Title 24
Other Functions:
- Coordinate the collection of Redlines and incorporate information into drawings
- Utilize established CAD/BIM drafting standards, file management & techniques to prepare drawings
- Create, revise and maintain Electrical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD/Revit
- Position is generally performed in an office environment – onsite trailer work may be required
- Visit project site to audit and survey existing electrical systems
Other Responsibilities:
- Develop understanding of the Engineering department’s design and CAD/BIM workflows
- Basic understanding of CEI’s business inter-department functions
- Develop proficient use of AutoCAD – MEP/REVIT, CAD and file management
- Develop proficient understanding of fundamental power & lighting systems
- Introductory exposure to various State and National CODES governing our work
Minimum Requirements:
- College/Technology school in CAD drafting preferred
- 2-3 years working for an electrical design firm or design build electrical contractor
- Basic Microsoft Office applications, AutoCAD – MEP/REVIT (desired)
- Good time management, communication and people skills
- Autodesk AutoCAD preferred
