S&P Global Ratings is currently seeking a Global Head of Data Engineering to join our Technology Leadership Team. This role will be responsible for driving the adaption of a modern multi-cloud enabled data fabric to meet the needs for various business functions across its transactional, operational & analytical applications. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise with data management technologies and a desire to drive change through data alignment across the enterprise. This role will work closely with the Technology Leadership Team and the rest of the Ratings Executive Team to understand and map data architecture/engineering strategies and roadmaps to business priorities.

Responsibilities:

  • Evangelize the vision of the Ratings Data Fabric by defining measurable & actionable criteria for engineering teams to derive in-line transformation of our legacy data platforms
  • Accelerate adaption of ELT and schema on read architectures to achieve speed to market for internal and external products
  • Partner with the Ratings data & content organization, cloud architecture / engineering, and SRE organizations to ensure best use of standards for the key data use cases
  • Reimagine data enablement DevOps in the highly regulated environment by embedding right control points in our key Agile processes to achieve strong compliance and sustainable velocity; while reducing friction between data governance, information architecture and data engineering teams
  • Derive innovation towards building highly scalable – real time data engineering pipelines and data distribution solutions leveraging AI/ML
  • Build a data engineering organization that is proactive, multi-cloud oriented, business focused and pulls (as opposed to have pushed) issues into the group for rapid resolution and compliance against our standards
  • Promote data governance and master data management as a strategic discipline
  • Design and implement strategies to monitor the effectiveness of data management and governance programs and identify, manage and mitigate current and emerging risks
  • Hire, attract and retain top talent, creating a cohesive culture that fosters innovation, transparency and collaboration

  • Has in-depth knowledge of the industry competitive landscape as well as deep understanding of S&P business and products
  • Operates globally and is able to define where strategies and tactics need to be applied globally and where locally, and to communicate that clearly and simply.
  • Highly knowledgeable of analytical methodology, the Ratings process & procedures and S&P policies
  • Understands HR’s goals and talent strategies and can naturally weave them into our strategic plans
  • Understands our EssentialTECH goals and initiatives and helps make these a central pillar of each strategy
  • Looks at external companies, products and capabilities and how they may accelerate Ratings technology initiatives
  • Shapes and leverages advanced conceptual thinking to solve complex and/or completely new or novel situations that have never been dealt with before.  Actively pursues innovative solutions that align with the company’s tolerance for risk (business and reputational).

Basic Qualifications:

  • Skilled communicator who influences and negotiates with great latitude on various outcomes for an entire business/segment/function internally and externally
  • Defines and shapes the professional/technical direction and strategy for a core part of the business or an entire function
  • Primary focus of the role is managing a team of professionals will full management decisions including hiring, compensation and performance management decisions, budgets and planning
  • 15+ Years of Data Engineering/Architecture experience
