Description of the job

The role of the Mechanical Engineer includes the following activities:
· Interpretation and review of mechanical specifications of space vehicles (launchers, satellites) as whole systems or at subsystem level (payloads, platform. primary structures)
· Design of structures of space vehicles (launchers and satellites) including accommodation of other subsystems and enabling the correct function of the vehicle, through the fulfillment of the specification delivered by the customer
· Review of technical documentation generated either for in-house manufacturing or outsourcing of manufacturing & assembly operations, ensuring the compatibility with high-level requirements
· Review / performance of analysis oriented to verify the fulfillment of the mechanical requirements of the structure of the space vehicle: stiffness (static & dynamic), strength (under quasi-static, dynamic & thermal loads, buckling stability, pointing thermal stability, fracture control, tolerance analysis.
· Definition and support of mechanical qualification campaigns, oriented to the test verification of structure requirements, under both static and dynamic load environments (sine, random, acoustic, shock)
