Job Description
Develops all publication elements for all levels of maintenance for a new or fielded major equipment system or multiple sub systems. Collects, researches and analyzes source data. Identifies source data inaccuracies and takes corrective action. Develops technical publication project plan, budget and baseline schedules. Conducts peer reviews of completed publication elements. Participates in or conducts customer technical and program reviews.

The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Technical Data Designer as part of a new opportunity to develop and update flight manuals for the USAF B-52 bomber program. This position will report to the Learning and Technical Data Solutions (LTDS) team within Boeing Global Services.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Research engineering drawings and source data for incorporation in B-52 flight manuals.
  • Update existing B-52 flight manuals using SGML authoring tools
  • Responsible for the quality and timeliness of work assigned
  • Expected to pro-actively seek out necessary information to complete tasks
  • Responsible to leadership of any issues affecting quality

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • This position requires an active (or ability to obtain) U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • 5+ years’ experience as an aircrew member in either fixed-wing, rotorcraft or aircraft maintenance operations
  • 5+ years’ experience in military flight

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Arbortext Epic Editor and/or Adobe Framemaker
  • 1+ years’ experience authoring of Flight manual procedures
  • 3+ years’ experience with the use of MIL-DTL-7700H and MIL-STD-38784 in the formatting of USAF Technical Orders

Typical Education / Experience:

  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years’ related work experience, 10 years’ related work experience, etc.).
