The purpose of this position is to lectureIndustrial Psychologyrelated subjects on a NQF level 7 on a part-time basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lecturing modules using the blended learning approach (with particular focus on technology in the classroom).
  • Preparation of slides, notes, formative assessments and additional study materials.
  • Creating level appropriate baseline assessments and creative in-class activities to monitor student progress.
  • Identify at-risk students and create intervention plans to assist these students.
  • Managing a student portal and doing online marking.
  • Facilitation of learning, lecturing, tutoring.
  • Using technology on a daily basis such as Google Suite (Email, Drive, Calendar, Hangouts, Docs and Sheets).
  • Quality assurance of learning material.
  • Producing deliverables such as academic administration at a fast pace and on time.
  • Adhere to academic policies and handle administration with integrity.
  • Attending regular faculty meetings, staff induction and any necessary training deemed fit for professional development.
  • Work independently, but be able to form part of a team.
  • Contribute and implement innovative teaching and learning strategies, including technology enhanced learning.
  • The candidate must place the student(s) at the center of everything they do (customer-centric approach).
  • Participate in research activities and activities and projects to keep abreast of the latest developments in trends in subject fields.

Core competencies:

  • Working with a culturally diverse student body and be assertive approachable to students.
  • Working knowledge and experience in Google Suite and Microsoft Office.
  • Proven proficiency in PowerPoint presentations and public speaking.
  • Excellent proficiency in presenting, reading, writing and communicating in English.
  • Working knowledge and experience ofIndustrial Psychology.
  • Functioning under pressure in a fast paced working environment.
  • Being self-driven and taking accountability for own work.
  • Innovative: ability to solve problems alone and within the team.
  • Organizing, planning as well as problem solving skills.
  • The candidate must display patience, approachability, assertion and composure at all times.
  • Academic Administrative skills and experience such as marking and capturing marks.

Experience:

  • Lecturing Industrial Psychology modules for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Successfully interacting and communicating with students in Higher Education (other than peers).
  • Handling multiple tasks at the same time and being deadline driven.
  • Producing academic content of a high quality, with attention to detail.
  • Managing a student portal and doing online marking will be an advantage.
  • Research experience in specialist field.
  • Practical working experience in the field or private sector would be an advantage.
  • Functioning in a fast paced environment.
  • Knowledge of higher education practices and processes.
  • Professional knowledge in their area of expertise.

Qualifications

Qualifications

Bachelors of Commerce Honours in Industrial/Organisational Psychology.

Subjects completed on NQF level 8:

  • Positive Psychology
  • Group Dynamics
  • Organisational Assessment and Evaluation
  • Counselling and Therapy Skills
