Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience using Agile methods and practices through multiple teams.
  • Experience with finance operations, process optimization, and enterprise applications.
  • Experience in understanding finance business requirements/problems and functional solutions that are scalable.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Program experience with cross-functional, multidisciplinary project teams – especially in Finance and/or Engineering disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of information management, data modeling, system integration, and development methodologies.
  • Highly structured problem solver with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional, fast-paced environment and to lead and drive complex operational initiatives globally.
  • Superior analytical skills, combined with impeccable business judgment and ability to communicate with seasoned management.
  • Excellent communication skills: Business partnering with multiple business functions and a number of external partners are key requirements for this role.

An exciting opportunity has opened up in the payroll organization, as Payroll Systems Product Owner. This is a chance to be part of a dynamic and strategic operation, with significant exposure and responsibility. In this role, your core work will be around driving new first party payroll systems from inception to implementation. You can think of this as being the product manager for our internal payroll system.

As the Payroll Systems Product Manager, you’ll be a team member of Payroll’s transformation team, working to ensure the delivery of a high quality and relevant solution for the Payroll organization. You will collaborate with the Payroll process owners and operations team to understand, document requirements and lead system development through the entire project life cycle embedding yourself in the operational implementation. You will use your technical knowledge, business acumen and creativity to articulate the business requirements to Business Analyst/Engineers to build robust solutions that will allow the Payroll team to accurately and efficiently execute the Payroll cycle. You have the technical skills to provide insightful guidance to Operations and engineers alike and have extensive knowledge of program management tools and approaches. You appreciate and drive creativity; identifying untapped opportunities for technical innovation to support business goals. Your influencing and relationship-building skills allow you to successfully navigate complex organizations and ambiguous scope to deliver collaborative wins.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with cross-functional teams to understand the end-to-end payroll process pain points to identify business requirements, turn them into user stories, and translate the value of your requests to Engineering.
  • Work with Corporate Engineering daily, partnering closely with the business systems analyst ensuring functional designs meet the business requirements, helping software engineers understand context and requirement prioritization, and being the voice for UX.
  • Prioritize the above requests and maintain the features and bugs backlog assigned during the biweekly sprint planning meetings. Monitor progress in the daily standup, and test user stories and communicate new features to users.
  • Support operational implementation including project scope/planning, UAT, training, and documentation.
  • Communicate the project value, status updates, and future plans to all stakeholders. Work closely with Corporate Engineering Program Management to identify issues and make necessary escalations.
