Role Summary:

The Downstream Process Liquids and Buffers Product Manager is responsible for making business decisions by aligning market insights with technology trends, product planning and optimized commercial execution. This position identifies and develops opportunities for growth and market share gain. Creates a global product /portfolio strategy including product positioning and portfolio optimization via voice of customer, market research and robust analytical skills.

Essential Responsibilities:

This position identifies programs needed to enhance customer loyalty and installed base retention and provides direction to the product/solutions road map. Critical to the role will be strong relationships with horizontal teams in supply chain, quality, regulatory, marketing, services and sales. This position has high visibility, diverse challenges and the opportunity to learn virtually all aspects of the cell culture business. This role can be based out of our Marlborough, MA or Logan, UT sites.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • • Manages the flammable and caustic buffer product portfolio intended for the bioproduction market over its life cycle in a manner that maximizes the overall return/profit to the business. Ensures compliance with quality systems, regulatory requirements, and commercial change processes.
  • • Builds and executes global product line strategy and individual product launches, including value proposition, regulatory compliance, segmentation / positioning, target pricing, awareness & advocacy strategies, channel strategy and sales enablement (in coordination with Product Marketing).
  • • Constantly seeks out ways to improve sales and commercial processes – leveraging the use of technology, tools, and analytics
  • • Identifies and assesses market needs, competitor activities and distribution risks, incorporating such information into the business plan.
  • • Defines product value proposition and competitive positioning claims roadmap for new and existing products.

    Quality Specific Goals:

  • 1. Aware of and complies with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position
  • 2. Completes all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines
  • 3. Identifies and reports any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required
  • 4. Responsible for ensuring legal and regulatory approval of all marketing communications

    Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 1. Bachelor’s Degree in technical (Science or Engineering) or business (Marketing, Business Administration) field
  • 2. Minimum 5 years combined experience in product management, marketing or a related technical field in the life sciences
  • 3. Working knowledge of single-use bioprocess systems
  • 4. Working knowledge of bioprocess chromatagraphy
  • 5. Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • 6. Strong analytical and process skills
  • 7. Results oriented with the ability to work effectively within a matrix environment
  • 8. Strong leadership qualities, emotional intelligence and business judgement
  • 9. Ability to work quickly and successfully amid change and ambiguity
  • 10. Team oriented – ability to motivate and work well with diverse, cross-functional teams
  • 11. Proven ability to work globally

    Desired Characteristics:

  • 1. Master’s degree in Marketing, Engineering, Science, Business Administration or another related field
  • 2. 7+ years combined experience in product management, marketing or a related field in the life sciences
  • 3. Product Management/Marketing expertise, including: market trends/analysis, NPI process, product roadmap development, product life-cycle management,
  • 4. Life science product/industry/technical acumen
  • 5. Strong project management skills
