Job Summary:

This Quality Engineer effectively supports the Quality Management System in accordance with current procedures, work instructions.  The role will partner with Operations and Supply Chain to meet customer expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide Quality Engineering support to MDC operations when quality issues arise
  • Support NCM process and disposition of non-conforming product and attend weekly MRB meetings
  • Serve as liaison between Operations, Purchasing, internal and external Suppliers on quality related issues to promote disposition and problem resolution.
  • Provide quality engineering support and investigate root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions for customer complaints as needed.
  • Issue and follow-up on CAR’s/SCAR’s, including monthly SCAR matrix.
  • Warranty data tracking and improvement.
  • Support the customer stock check process.
  • Support key quality related issues as needed.
  • Provide trend analysis of defects and provide routine KPI charts and reports.
  • Develop and maintain applicable quality system procedures and work instructions.
  • Participate in Advanced Quality Planning (PPAP/NPD/FAI) as necessary.
  • Work with MDC team members to promote and drive issue resolution.
  • Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor.
  • Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Equivalent
  • 3+ years of work experience in a manufacturing environment is required
  • 3+ years of work experience in a quality engineering capacity or support role

Essential Knowledge or Skills:

  • Practical knowledge, experience and application of Lean principles and tools, including 5s, 9 step problem solving, A3, etc.
  • Working knowledge of quality tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Skilled in blueprint reading and using various measuring equipment.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and apply sound judgment
  • Ability to organize tasks and manage time to complete multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to communicate at all levels internally and externally with customers and suppliers, etc.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Basic math skills, including ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Previous experience with Oracle a plus
  • ASQ certification (CQE, CQA, CQT) a plus
