Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • Data Analysis/Data Integration/Data Warehousing experience.
  •  Business strategy and stakeholder management experience.
  • SQL experience.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles, including US GAAP and related international accounting standards. Technical accounting or Tax Compliance experience.
  • Experience empathizing with and influencing others without direct line authority, and resolving conflict diplomatically in tense high-pressure situations

About the job

The Revenue Systems Analyst will support the Cloud Business Finance team with data management and sophisticated queries to drive business insights and economic analyses. You will be working directly with the engineering team in tracking and displaying this usage reporting that will be used by multiple business teams, as well as accounting, FP&A and finance operations to ensure accuracy and timeliness of Cloud revenue recognition. As Cloud continues to grow, consistency in revenue reporting will become more important in helping to drive growth in the business as well as ensure compliance in financial reporting. You will connect the dots across multiple systems to help the Cloud Business Finance team work more efficiently and effectively – and help the business solve tough problems. The Cloud Business Finance team is here to safeguard Google’s investment in Cloud products and services. We enforce Alphabet’s contracting policies nimbly and correctly, provide insights about market trends to our Finance leaders, and accurately report our revenue and expenses on time.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, launch, optimize and extend full-stack Big Data and business intelligence solutions spanning extraction, storage, transformation, visualization, and advanced analytics layers.
  • Develop expertise to become a subject matter expert with respect to datasets relevant to the Cloud Business Finance team. Leverage data to assess the effectiveness of current controls, and determine future improvements. Develop processes to assist the Cloud Business Finance Team in researching financial data discrepancies/fluctuations.
  • Manage project issues/risks, facilitate escalations when needed to senior management, publish regular project status, own other project communications.
  • Develop an end-to-end understanding of the go to market processes to be able to identify dependencies between functions and systems and opportunities for improvement.
  • Train and support the Controllership team to query system financial data and make sure all recorded activity is accurate and reconciled.
