Leads the research, preparation, data validation, review, approval and reconciliation of complex financial statements and reports. Leads the analysis and mitigation of compliance risk/errors of a complex nature. Leads the analysis and interpretation of highly complex directives, policies and regulatory requirements to provide expert guidance on new and existing accounting issues including the writing, editing and approving of white papers on accounting issues. Leads the identification and communication of cost collection requirements and develops, implements and maintains cost accounting structure/systems, tools, data and related realignment activities. Leads the development and deployment of highly complex changes to accounting tools and processes.

The Boeing Company seeks a senior accountant to join our team.

This Senior Accountant position reports to the Boeing Commercial Airplanes Senior Manager of Financial Policy and interacts regularly with key finance and accounting personnel at the Company’s business units, management in other functional areas, and the Company’s external auditors.

This role participates in a team of technical accounting professionals who perform accounting research and develop accounting policies in a complex environment. This includes researching and interpreting generally accepted accounting principles to ensure proper reporting of external financial statements. Specific areas of expertise assigned to this position include performing evaluations of complex transactions involving topics such as revenue recognition, cost classification (research & development, inventory, capital, etc…), corporate development activities, reviewing estimates at completion, monitoring and reporting on accounting rulemaking, and serving as a liaison to the Boeing Commercial Airplane’s programs finance teams, other functional areas, and external auditors.

Responsibilities include:
• Serving as a subject matter expert on various technical accounting matters
• Creation of accounting policies and procedures
• Preparing technical accounting whitepapers and coordinating with external auditors.
• Ensuring continued compliance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act
• Participating in special projects and other technical accounting matters as they arise

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 10 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+8 years’ related work experience, 14 years’ related work experience, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business or a related field
  • 3+ years with theory and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • 3+ years working in accounting

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
