Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Body Production Engineering (BPE) Department is looking for a passionate and highly-motivated Senior Engineer to work from our Canadian Branch Office located at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada (TMMC).
 
The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and manage new model projects from all aspects of Body Engineering in Toyota’s North American Body Manufacturing Shops.
 
The person in this role will support the BPE department’s objective to provide new model processes to the manufacturing facilities which meet all targets for Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost.
 
What you’ll be doing
  • Create and manage a project schedule, budget, and quality confirmation plan
  • Total ownership of significant project workload, including leading a project team and balancing and adjusting resources based on events 
  • Leadership of a team through process design, machine specification, equipment procurement and installation, safety risk assessments, dimensional accuracy investigations and process trials 
  • Ownership of produced part quality for assigned body area
  • Interact with outside groups (Body Manufacturing Pilot, Stamping PE, Plant Facilities, etc.) to divide responsibilities and resolve conflicts
  • Report to management, internal and external, on project status
Qualifications

 

What you bring:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or 5+ years automotive manufacturing experience in an engineering role
  • Toyota Body Production Engineering experience
  • Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) Eligibility required
  • Ability to work weekends, holiday periods, and shutdown periods to support tooling modification and installation projects
  • Ability to travel (up to 30%) to support work at USA machine vendors, Toyota manufacturing locations and occasionally in Japan, including the possibility for a dispatch to another site
Added bonus if you have:
  • Prior work experience with capital projects, including responsibility for creating and tracking milestones, equipment procurement and production preparation
  • Experience leading a team on a project, including progress checks and mentoring and guiding team members and contractors
  • Experience in more than one manufacturing discipline or production shop
  • Advanced engineering degree (above Bachelor’s Degree)
