osition Title:  Shipping/Receiving Clerk

 

Key Client/Matrix Reporting Relationship(s):

 

Reports to:  Area Supervisor

 

General Description with Scope:

 

Verify and record all incoming shipments for conformance to the delivery receipt.  Verify all outgoing shipments and prepare all appropriate documentations; i.e., bill of lading, packing list, export documents.

Competencies:

 Basic knowledge of MRP and computer systems.

 Skilled in performing mathematical calculations.

 Ability to communicate effectively.
 Ability to operate a forklift. Must be licensed.

Key Responsibilities/Deliverables:

1.      Coordinate the staging of shipments according to customer pull signals or shipping schedules.

 

2.      Arrange carriers for delivery of product to customer locations.

 

3.      Prepare all shipping documentation in accordance with customer and export requirements including bar codes, commercial invoices, bills-of-lading, and packing lists.

 

4.      Prepare all shipping documentation for material sent to outside processing, machine run-off, PPAP or other purposes.

 

5.      Maintain inventory areas for proper storage of material and FIFO stock rotation.

 

6.      Arrange shipment of material to required destination in a timely manner.

 

7.      Enter shippers into MRP system as shipments occur and verify required EDI transactions.

 

8.      Direct the delivery of all MRO type material to proper storage area or department as designated, e.g., “tag for.”

 

9.      Verify all incoming MRO and direct material receipts for quantities and identification of material and compare actual receipts with shippers, receivers or other records.

 

10.    Communicate with suppliers, purchasing, quality or materials management to resolve problems with packaging, shortages or damage.

 

11.    Cycle count finished goods and pull system inventories as directed by shipping/receiving supervisor or area supervisor.

 

12.    Direct the delivery of raw material to designated storage areas.

 

13.    Drive hi-lo and load/unload trucks as required.

 

14.    Enter receipts as they occur into our C.M.S. system.

 

15.    Receive all direct materials in MRP system.

 

16.    DOT training if required.

 

17.    Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

 

Education Required/Preferred:

 High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.

 Minimum of three years of experience in a similar position.
