In this IT Solution Architect role, you will be responsible for the development, communication and implementation of the organization’s technology architecture and applications plan, including the components required to support it and in the integration of corporate and business architecture and applications.

We are seeking a solution architect in a growing clinical solution architecture team responsible for driving technology solutions for UHC programs and projects across a diverse portfolio that spans all lines of business. The solutions will address various UHC clinical business strategies like Patient Centered Care, Population Health, Case and Disease Management, Utilization management, Individual Health Record etc.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the business to understand / influence business requirements
  • Demonstrate understanding of cross – functional / cross – domain requirements and impact
  • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies / products / trends related to architectural solutions
  • Ensure alignment of solutions with business and IT goals / objectives
  • Identify and quantify scope and impact of business changes on systems
  • Facilitate / lead / participate in identification of solution options and features
  • Communicate solution options to business owners / stakeholders (e.g. architecture reviews)
  • Incorporate software and system architecture (e.g. infrastructure, network) into conceptual designs
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards (e.g. solution patterns, application frameworks, technology roadmaps, capital plans)
  • Identify gaps between established standards and proposed solutions, and follow the exception / waiver process as needed
  • Maintain awareness of current technology assets and the capability of each
  • Understand and adhere to architecture Governance framework
  • Deliver all project deliverables on scope, on time and on budget
  • Ability to design and architect solutions across various technology platforms to help satisfy growing business needs
  • Drive solution sessions and create detail solution documents for the technology development team to execute
  • Serve as a liaison between business and technology organizations
  • Ensure stakeholder requirements get captured clearly and assist with prioritization of requirements
  • Guide the estimation of project cost and assist business counterparts in selecting appropriate solutions based on budget and business constraints
  • Create and own solution diagrams, solution documents and other enterprise required artifacts
  • Accountability for the overall architecture and solution for the program
  • Ensure alignment to enterprise standards and goals by working with the core clinical architecture team

Domestic travel required no more than 10% of the time

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing technology solutions across a variety of technologies and frameworks (.Net. Java etc.)
  • 2+ years of experience as a liaison between business and technology organizations
  • 2+ years of experience leading design sessions and developing and architecting technology solutions across business functions
  • 5+ years of experience in IT Solution Delivery and architecture/analysis
  • 5+ years of full – lifecycle application development experience
  • Deep understanding of industry patterns for application architecture and integration
  • Agile development experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Health care industry experience
  • Team leadership or team management experience
  • Experience prototyping and performance tuning applications deployed across multiple operating systems, languages and computing platforms
  • 2+ years of experience evaluating new technology frameworks and creating prototypes
  • Integration experience with EMR systems for custom and industry standard data exchange standards (HL7 / CCD / CCDA etc.) and transport protocols (SFTP / DIRECT etc.)
