Job Description

The Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials Group North America is looking for a Project Engineer to join our facility in Mill Hall, PA. The primary responsibilities and essential functions of this position include:

  • Must have experience managing small to large capital projects related to building construction, piping system installation, and or equipment purchases. Candidate should have a strong engineering background.
  • Responsible for developing bid specifications, soliciting bids, working with corporate procurement to award contracts for both manufacturing equipment and construction.
  • Develop project schedules, hire contractors, and supervise installations
  • Work with internal customers to ensure all functional requirements and acceptance criteria are documented and met using a documented acceptance criteria.
  • Follow Management of Change processes to implement projects.
  • Responsible for holding regular progress meetings, tracking commitments from others, and escalating any unresolved issues to management.
  • Must track and manage project budget
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing projects that meet or exceed schedule, financial, and performance targets.
  • Demonstrated experience using AutoCad for updating and creating plant layouts, P&ID drawings, and generating detailed fabrication or machine details. Equipment design experience is a plus.
  • Analyze, develop and recommend design approaches necessary to meet production requirements for new or improved products and/or processes.
  • Individual must be self directed and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Compile and evaluate design and test data to prepare technical specifications.
  • Must be capable of working within a team and possess good communication skills.
  • Mentor maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Represents the organization as a technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
  • Participate in, lead and sponsor various task teams or problem solving teams.

Qualifications

What you will need to bring to the team:

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 5 years engineering role experience in industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience in a PSM covered environment is required.
  • Expertise in liquid piping systems at either equipment or facility level a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects varying in scope and complexity.
  • Capital equipment purchasing experience preferred.
  • Ability to estimate, track, and manage to a capital budget.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot equipment/process issues.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement focus.

Additional Competencies Required:

  • Possess well-developed communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be proficient with CAD and have a good background in mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints drawings and technical manuals.
  • Must possess demonstrated competency in construction management.
  • Must be knowledgeable in mechanical drafting standards used to generate fabrication details, machined component details, and minor assembly drawings as required to procure fabrications and machined components.
  • Strong ability to interface effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.
