What’s the role?

This role will provide technical expertise across our complex Wholesale Access platforms within Vodafone UKs fixed line business. You will be the Design Authority responsible for solution design through development of innovative yet pragmatic solution designs that bring structure and definition to large complex changes/problems.

You will be working alongside IT architecture, IT engagement and business stakeholders to review requirements, approve designs and lead the development. You will also engage with major suppliers such as Openreach, BT Wholesale and any other communication provider and external delivery partners.  You will have good knowledge of Telecoms Products & Services. You will understand the impacts of these changes and ensure the solution designs and application road maps are aligned to meet with the change demands.

The role is for an experienced Solution Design Authority who will provide real design and thought leadership, with effective delivery of new business capabilities (business change, new product and solution offerings, and technology changes). The successful candidate must be a self-starter with good communication and facilitation skills.

In addition, you will be required to:

  • Identify and develop pragmatic and credible overall solution design/ architecture options and concepts, together with associated Cost, Complexity, Resource and Planning Estimates.
  • Take overall responsibility for the definition of the design of a change. This includes its end-to-end integrity and its position within the strategic business and technology architecture of Enterprise IT.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Vodafone and associated suppliers and to produce estimates and support the planning of detailed design and delivery for the Designed Solutions.
  • Produce a professionally-documented, end-to-end Solution Design, reviewed and approved by all key stakeholders.
  • Consider the service (product), network service,  operational service and supporting IT systems in the design are fully captured, understood, agreed, consistent and communicated

What’s needed?

  • In-depth IT experience covering all stages of the software.
  • Development lifecycle & business knowledge of Telecoms Products & Services.
  • Ability to provide detailed analysis and be able to deep dive into detail in order to ensure quality deliverables and also to explain the functional capability in simple terms to business users

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  • Degree educated preferably in an IT related discipline .
  • Exposure to full set of enterprise application management systems and business processes.
  • Knowledge of telecoms products and services

**The knowledge of SoA, agile development and experience in integration is crucial for the role. Experience in using integration tools like webMethods or Tibco is desirable.
