Description:

The Technical Lead – Major Capital Projects is a key leadership role in Facilities Maintenance & Engineering and reports directly to the Director, Facilities Maintenance & Engineering. This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization over the activities of the organization of Technical Support within FME in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services. These activities also will include the integration of various resources to carry out these activities. The position is also responsible and accountable for making key decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for establishing and contributing to the achievement of the goals of Facilities Maintenance & Engineering. The Technical Lead – Major Capital Projects will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide leadership to the Facilities Maintenance & Engineering.

Required Qualifications:A minimum of post-secondary education with a baccalaureate degree or technical diploma in a relevant engineering or technical program. A minimum of 10 years of related experience in progressively responsible engineering or technical positions with demonstrated management skills and abilities combined with a background in complex facilities, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity (healthcare experience an asset). A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Additional Required Qualifications:In addition, the incumbent will possess a record of accomplishment in the following areas: Progressive leadership experience in an engineering or technical environment, including 5 years’ experience in a management role in related operations. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, client focused orientation & commitment to providing quality services. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability & comfort with decision-making responsibilities, coaching & teaching, and the ability to inspire & build confidence in others. Demonstrated ability to manage change & create innovative solutions for complex & diverse issues Ability to manage human, financial & physical resources within an operating environment. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within an organization & ideally managing within a unionized sector. Strong track record in establishing & maintaining effective working relationships with internal & external stakeholders. Effective leadership abilities combined with a strong commitment to operating within a team environment and the ability to motivate & inspire other to achieve common goals. Excellent analytical & decision-making skills. Ability to plan, organize and manage short and long-term plans and projects & deliver customer-focused results. Ability to build solid relationships with public agencies, government, committees & other partners.
