Job Description

Position Summary:

We are looking for a Technical  Manager with a background in civil engineering to join our team.

The Technical Manager is a project leader responsible for working alongside architects and external structural engineers to assist in developing architectural designs, construction drawings, and preparing project documentation according to each phase of the project. The Technical Manager will be responsible for all phases of design process from schematic design through construction administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

-Work with GCs and sub contractors to ensure all legal requirements, building and safety codes, safety inspections, local guidelines are met

-Work with and/or perform the tasks of a cost estimator

-Evaluate, with stakeholders, project performance at completion of each phase and at project close out.

-Work with stakeholders to implement a document tracking retention system.

-Understands the technical implications of design decisions and contributes to the development and documentation of practical, buildable details

-Coordinates the production of drawings and construction documents which fulfill the design concept, meet the client’s expectations and the firm’s goals of design excellence, financial viability and quality service

-Prepares presentation materials to communicate structural design ideas to stakeholders

-Represents RCI in project meetings with GCs, sub contractors and technical engineers

-Drive collaborative relationship with consultants and knowledge resources to ensure that deliverables are coordinated, integrated and support the performance goals of the project.

-Leads the preparation of design documents and leads the detailed development of construction documents during all project phases.

-25% – 50% Int’l Travel

Job Requirements

Knowledge and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree required; construction management, engineering, architecture or similar (preferred)

-7 + of experience leading construction projects as a commercial Project Manager

-Experience with commercial projects (retail, restaurant, hospitality).

-Seven to ten years experience as a construction manager or in a similar position in construction management

-Experience with land valuation, drone surveys, cadastral surveys, topographical surveys, test pit investigation, geotechnical investigation, environmental permit applications process and ecological assessment of sites.

-Demonstrated basic knowledge of building materials, detailing, construction techniques, building systems selection, related engineering principles, sustainability strategies and building codes;

-Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently

-Able to analyze structural and architectural drawings

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills

-Accurate and precise attention to detail

-Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions

-In-depth understanding of the construction industry

-Self-motivated and self-directed

-Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel), Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar project management software.
