Job Summary

The client is seeking a highly motivated and independent Test Engineer to join their team. This position is a hands-on multi-disciplinary role with emphasis on supporting the design verification and validation of new products. The individual must be able to write, follow, and execute detailed test procedures covering a wide variety of processes from microbiology, chemistry, mechanical, electrical, software, and integration thereof. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong command of the skills and experience outlined in the following profile. Under the direction of the Principal Engineer, this individual will:

  • Work as part of a team developing Class II IVD systems for the Infectious Disease market
  • Execute and document product and product subsystem verification test procedures
  • Work with Systems and V&V Engineers to refine test procedures and/or design requirements as applicable.
  • Develop new test procedures and design appropriate test fixtures and software tools.
  • Contribute to product designs and failure investigations to ensure compliance with functional and technical specifications.
  • Conduct troubleshooting and failure analysis as required – both independently and with strong support from engineers and scientists.
  • Contribute to authoring test plans, summaries, and other documents.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in cross-disciplinary study (biomedical, electrical, mechanical, etc.)
  • Experience in design verification testing of medical devices within an FDA 21 CFR 820 or ISO 13485 Quality System. Software testing experience a plus (Helix, DOORS, or Cognition Cockpit are ideal).
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and techniques and able to clearly explain technical ideas and concepts.
  • Experience writing procedures for others to follow.
  • Knowledge of test and measurement techniques including engineering (e.g. temperature, pressure) and life science (absorbance, fluorometry, weighing).
  • Software scripting and programming experience.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work independently, willing to take initiative and demonstrate efficient and effective time management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and a proven ability to work well on a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers.
