This position is for a lead technician for the P8 International Systems Integration Lab. Main responsibilities include: troubleshooting electronic and aircraft systems using oscilloscopes, meters and analyzers; working with engineering, QA and vendors to repair and modify electronic and aircraft systems; able to follow verbal and written instruction in the form of engineering directions and drawings, work orders and test documents; able to document own work using Pickups and TRS’s (Troubleshooting Record Sheets) as required; Cisco network experience and skills are highly desired.

The lead will also support program short term and long term goals; interacts with program engineering and management through the use of clear verbal and written communication to ensure program goals are met; provides constructive feedback as part of the Lab Ops/Program team.

Normal lab operating hours are 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM with occasional later closing times and limited second shift support when required by the program.  Potential candidates must be flexible to meet program end of day scheduling changes and occasional weekend support. Plans, conducts and documents complex tests on products, systems, components, materials, and manufacturing processes and technologies. Designs, fabricates, builds and analyzes test systems, materials, components, software and methodologies. Coordinates test requirements, determines test methods and capabilities. Conducts system test preparations by guiding system integration, fabrication, modification, setup, checkout and teardown. Performs test article configuration control. Conducts complex tests, analyzes data and documents results; participates in test readiness reviews. Identifies and resolves test anomalies. Troubleshoots and resolves complex laboratory and test-related problems. Coordinates test laboratory activities, maintenance and repairs, and personnel training. Assists government agencies, safety and hazardous materials teams in the event of emergencies. Coaches and trains others. Works under minimal direction.

Additional Roles and Responsibilities may include:

  • Tracking and management of all CAP (Contract Acquired Property), Capital, and government property in the lab.
  • Ability to acquire secret clearance and to follow lab procedures for handling classified equipment and working in closed area. This includes working with the Program CISSO and Security to ensure the labs is in compliance with program security documentation and the NISPOM (National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual).
  • Execution of lab startup and shutdown procedure along with end of the day checklist and closing procedure.
  • Creation of Non-Conformance Reviews and pickups using MESci; or have the willingness to learn MESci for NCRs and pickups.

Typical Education and Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 6 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor +4 years’ related work experience, 8 years’ related work experience, etc.).

Required Qualifications:

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
  • Must have 5 or more years of experience working in a lab or other test environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Cisco Networks highly preferred
  • Experience planning and performing environmental or safety audits
  • Holds safety meetings and monitors adherence to safety practices
  • Operates lab equipment when necessary
  • Experience teaching, coaching and developing others
