The Online Safety Team within Integrity, Investigations, and Intelligence (I3) works on the most complex and emerging threats of real world harm. The team investigates and understands current trends and behaviors in user safety and targeting of vulnerable users. They develop innovative prevention and detection solutions to mitigate future risk. The team is looking for an experienced investigator with a passion for investigation and analysis, cybercrime, and problem solving. This is a cross-functional role that works closely with Operations, Engineering, Policy, and External Outreach teams.
This is a full time position based in our Dublin, Ireland office.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead complex technical investigations into illicit activity and networks and their presence on Facebook’s platforms to identify and disrupt abuse
  • Develop deep understanding of how bad actors use and target victims on Facebook and highlight emerging threats and trends
  • Gather, synthesize, analyze, and communicate relevant data and insights that support safer products, prevention and detection
  • Document and present investigative research and findings for consumption by other team members and management
  • Provide actionable recommendations to internal and external partners
  • Identify and consult on the design of countermeasures and preventative strategies to stop abuse at scale
  • Take a leadership role in suggesting, prototyping, and teaching novel investigative techniques
  • Work with partners to create new leads of abusive behavior
  • Interface proactively with Product teams, engineering, legal, law enforcement, policy, and industry partners
  • Address sensitive content issues, including but not limited to graphic images, videos and writings, offensive or derogatory language, and other objectionable material
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 7+ years of investigations and/or operations in credible threats of violence, dangerous organizations, or relevant safety field
  • Experience in online safety and security initiatives, particularly around vulnerable users
  • Experience investigating and acting on high-impact threats and online threat actors
  • Experience with open source investigation techniques and a variety of Internet research tools
  • Knowledge of safety trends and identifying various data needed to support and evaluate a hypothesis
  • Experience interpreting information from multiple sources and working with large data sets
  • Experience communicating quantitative and qualitative analysis in an actionable manner
  • Experience protecting confidential information
  • Time management and experience working with distributed teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with computer networking concepts and how to use them to further technical investigations
  • Experience with databases and/or scripting languages (SQL, Python, R) to manipulate, transform, and analyze data
  • Experience in computer crime investigations and/or digital forensics
  • Regional knowledge and/or language skills
  • Languages: Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, Russian, French
  • Ability to work with a team spanning multiple locations/time zones
