     Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to the following):

  • Review and revise tooling designs for the most efficient operation and cost effectiveness.
  • Assist in maintaining tooling & engineering documentation
  • Create and implement engineering change requests
  • Create/update PPAP, FMEA, APQP for new product launches
  • Interface with Tool Room, Quality, Maintenance, and Manufacturing on production, quality, throughput issues.
  • Assist with creating tooling specifications
  • Request and review production and tool quotes
  • Track tooling costs and costs of engineering changes
  • Review and track tool build/repair schedules.  Provide weekly / monthly status reports
  • Review customer PPAP reports and determine and implement corrective actions
  • Plan and formulate tool build and organize resources according project requirements
  • Control expenditures within limitations of project budget.
  • Resolves problems and conflicts with suppliers or internal customers in a timely manner.
  • Maintains good communications and working relationships with all departments to facilitate a smooth operation.
  • Work on production issues including but not limited to tooling.
  • Respond and communicate changes in the production schedules resulting from customer service, engineering changes and materials issues.
  • Work closely with manufacturing to ensure that planning activities facilitate uninterrupted workflow in production.
  • Maintains familiarity with quality standards and educates/informs suppliers.
  • Maintains effective communication with all departments.
  • Maintains courteous, impartial, and objective dealing with suppliers
  • Follows environmental and safety regulations and acts in compliance with US laws
  • Complies with safety and corporate guidelines on business ethics.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field
  • Preferred Journeyman tool and die accreditation
  • 5 – 7 years in a metal stamping manufacturing environment with tooling experience

Requirements

  • Must understand the design and operation of simple compound to complex progressive dies.
  • Strong program management skills required.  Must have the ability to manage multiple programs concurrently.
  • Lean manufacturing / Six Sigma methodology
  • Understanding of Automotive Project launches including PPAP’s, FMEA’s, APQP, IAF 16949, IS14001, etc.)
  • Must be able to communicate part and die changes to customers, vendors, and others throughout the organization.
  • Ability to represent the company effectively in dealing with vendors
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, CAD, Lotus Notes, etc.
  • Solid decision-making skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations under stress.
  • Engage in matters involving high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and tact.
