Who we’re looking for
Toyota Connected Technologies team is looking for a dynamic and passionate UX Designer who have a strong curiosity about people and technology. As a UX Designer on the Connected Technologies team, you will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager – UX Design, to maintain daily communication with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to understand business goals and translate those into design concepts and prototypes.
This position requires customer-focused thinking and the ability to be hands on. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is highly detail-oriented and take pride in their deliverables.
What you’ll be doing
- Work with engineering team to ensure that design concepts are feasible and are being implemented in a consistent manner with what was tested in prototypes
- Contribute new components to the Toyota Design System that enables rapid and scalable application design in the future
- Regular updates to management (up to VP) about status of projects and how voice of customer is being integrated continuously
- Analyze user testing data and determine what changes should be made to the product
- Ensure UX is in line with customer expectations and exceeds industry standards
- Finish the outputs in alignment with desired product launches
Qualifications
What you bring
- High school diploma or higher with additional training in computer science, engineering, technical or related discipline or equivalent work experience
- Excellent proficiency with Sketch
- Experience with developing highly technical documentation

Previous experience with prototyping software such as Principle, Invision or Flinto

You have a high degree of intellectual curiosity, analytical thinking, energy, and drive to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Experience in design or previous work experience in technical product environment

Exceptional interpersonal skills including consultative, detail-oriented, verbal & written communication, analytical, relationship management, and ability to influence

Ability to work in a dynamic, high volume, fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment with minimal supervision

Thrive as an independent, autonomous, creative thinker that can break out from conventional solutions
Added bonus if you have knowledge of:
- Previous experience in development (HMTL/CSS/JS, Swift Android)
- Has worked with distributed teams and leveraged Sketch Libraries
- Ability to present a portfolio of B-to-C products and experiences that you’ve helped launch into the real world and demonstrate cross-platform design experience (web, mobile tablets, email)
- Experience with user-centered design process from concept development to launch
- Proficient in basic Java/Kotlin, C, C++ or similar programming languages
- Background knowledge of Linux systems
- Co-op experience or intern experience in a similar role
