Position Purpose:

The Operations Process Analyst will provide support to the Pet Services and Industrial Engineering departments in achieving their objectives of profit improvement and enhancing customer relationships.

This partner will investigate root causes and recommend solutions by creating complex analytical models utilizing business intelligence software, flowcharts, spreadsheets, databases, and other decision support tools. The Analyst will compile and implement improvements to periodic reports and support ad-hoc data requests.

This role will partner closely with Finance, Accounting, and Pet Services teams for purposes of budgeting, forecasting, accruals, and expense management. The Analyst may develop functional specifications for decision support tools through partnership with SME’s to effectively identify business requirements.

  • Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interests
  • Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes
  • Identify problems, perform analysis to identify root causes, gather information, recommend a course of action, manage implementation, and document results
  • Develop professional presentations for department and executive leadership
  • Manage projects involving team members across several departments, identify dependencies and milestones, and promote communication
  • Develop flowcharts to identify failure points and optimize processes
  • Utilize database tools, Excel, and Office automation to build financial models, combine data, and present accurate information
  • Create and distribute weekly, biweekly, and monthly reports; continuously review ongoing reports for accuracy, to spot trends, and identify areas for improvement in content and presentation; develop metric targets based on clearly articulated logic; use automation to reduce processing time and improve accuracy
  • Train other Petco employees in the use of reporting and data mining software

Supervisory Responsibility:

Will indirectly supervise other department personnel to implement cost savings programs, and ensure accurate and timely financial information.

Work Environment:

The majority of work is performed while seated indoors at a computer, but minor travel to store locations is required (5%).

Qualifications:

Education:

The minimum education required for this position is BS degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business Analysis and Management or other related field, or the equivalent of 3 years experience in financial, operations, or business analysis.

Work Experience:

  • Three to five years of experience in advanced analytics, preferably in a retail organization
  • A Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business Analysis and Management or a related field
  • Intermediate to advanced level experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office programs
  • Some prior experience with relational databases like SQL Server and Access
  • Some prior experience with business intelligence and reporting software like Hyperion Essbase and Microstrategy
  • Experience with VBA / Microsoft Office automation, Crystal Reports, and SQL Server Reporting Studio is a plus
