Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of relevant experience in media relations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Communications experience in the video gaming industry.
  • Ability to focus and prioritize given a huge variety and pace of updates and announcements.
  • Strong media relations skills and relationships in order to help shape a story.
  • Creativity in both proactive and reactive communications’ approaches; ability to adapt quickly depending on the circumstance.
  • Strong, clear written and verbal communicator that can tailor messages to the right audiences.

About the job

As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We’re looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.

In this role, you will support Stadia, an all new streaming gaming platform part of the Devices & Services organization at Google. You will focus on consumer products in the entertainment and gaming space. From media outreach and project management, to message development and weekly reporting, you will provide ongoing PR support for Stadia, our 1st and 2nd party gaming content, and our consumer hardware efforts. Additionally, you will foster and maintain relationships with industry experts, influencers, and reporters across consumer, business, tech, and gaming press, driving positive, impactful media coverage for our new generation gaming platform.

We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders–and our own employees–about the benefits of Google’s products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, comms, marketing, product and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key PR point of contact and trusted advisor working closely with our cross-functional partners in product management, engineering, customer support, finance and marketing to globally to develop and refine communications content to ensure a consistent voice and effective storytelling.
  • Secure media coverage for many of our major initiatives and efforts in business, tech, gaming, consumer, and broadcast media outlets.
  • Drive messaging and narrative development, including drafting blog posts, media pitches, launch materials, and product review programs.
  • Establish deep-rooted relationships with key media and publishing partners, influencers, and community members to secure prime coverage for launches, integrated campaigns, proactive media efforts and industry events.
  • Act as a media spokesperson, which requires knowing Stadia inside and out and thinking quickly on your feet.
