We at NIKE Canada are currently looking for an exceptionally talented Director of DC Operations for our Distribution Centre (DC) in Scarborough, ON, CANADA.

Overview:

The main focus will be to provide leadership and direction on all business processes that support the efficient flow of product through the Nike Canada Distribution Centre. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of merchandise throughout the facility, meets/exceeds customer service level requirements for all Nike Canada customers, cross functional collaboration with internal and external partners, the development and implementation of operations business plan to align with regional goals and global logistics objectives. This role ensures continuous improvement through pro-active leadership and development of the team and is responsible for running a cost effective operation staying within budgetary guidelines.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing, documenting, and executing a global comprehensive logistics and distribution strategic plan which will drive optimal customer service and profitability.
  • Research, design and implement innovative processes and procedures that will foster improvement and evolution of the logistics operations and service levels.
  • Educate staff on statistical methods for process and performance assessment and analyze performance data for the purpose of driving key decisions around people, service, capacity, inventory and cost.
  • Utilize continual improvement methodology to focus on making the operation more efficient and flexible.
  • Responsible for the selection, motivation, development and evaluation of the Operations Management Team, including recruitment and selection, employee developmental, performance reviews, salary administration, professional/managerial training and Human Resource Process implementation of managers.
  • Build and maintain an interdependent relationship with all departments within the facility and engage in cross-functional collaboration with functional groups across the organization.
  • Build positive employee relationships and balance the work according to business needs; continually communicate and achieve or exceed the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Participate in and influence Nike Supply Chain and Operations Logistics Strategy agendas from a distribution perspective and communicate and coordinate distribution initiatives.
  • Ensure all regulatory and compliance measures are met within global guidelines.
  • Identify and implement best in class WMS technology, infrastructure suitable to the scope and size of the business along with disciplines that underlie a supply chain operation.
  • Develop global implementation of distribution best practices such as systems integration and optimization, inventory control, capacity planning, and SKU optimization.
  • Drive operational excellence and best practices across the network reducing cost year after year.
  • Create an environment where all employees feel confident in utilizing Nike’s open door policy.
  • Lead and drive change in a way which builds trust, values diversity, recognizes achievements, redirects marginal performance, and provides for a premium employee experience.
  • Ensure promotion of a Healthy & Safe environment.
  • Establish goals, set expectation, provide frequent and clear feedback, reward and redirect performance, mentor managers and employees, and conduct career road mapping with direct reports.

Experience Requirements:

  • University degree in Business, Logistics or related field.
  • 10+ years of Supply Chain Management experience in progressively senior management positions in a distribution center operations environment.
  • Experience in consumer products industry, distribution center technical operations, statistical process control, computer skills with excel, word, and PowerPoint, data analysis, budgeting.
  • Demonstrated ability of managing cost performance, supply/demand forecasting & distribution execution across a variety of product lines from multiple sources.
  • Leadership skills including coaching, mentoring, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills.
  • Capacity to build relationships internally and externally.
  • Strong analytical, financial & P&L skill required to succeed.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of supply chain processes including, distribution planning/staffing, inventory control, transportation and logistics planning, and customer service.
  • Knowledge of current industry best practices in supply chain management in order to support process improvement.
  • Experience with contingent workforce, scorecards and building high performance teams.
  • Ability to quickly establish credibility across organization; engage others to ensure the most effective efficient logistics solutions for the varied business units.
  • Flexibility to seek and incorporate input from others into the plan; solid track record for effectively managing/developing a team.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating/upgrading the distribution function in an organization of similar size and scope.
  • Experience in supply chain technical operations, statistical process control, data analysis, budgeting and processes such as SAP, Manhattan Associates, JIT, ERP, etc.
  • Ability to solve complex process problems creatively while keeping “big picture” in mind.
  • Willingness to adapt/accept new and different methods or procedures and willing to take calculated risks.
  • Strong decision maker with exceptional time management and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to adapt and manage effectively in fast paced changing environment.
  • Experience in planning, assessing and implementing change.
  • Superior communication, presentation and analytical skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally
