Job Summary:

The Mechanical Engineer Design Associate is responsible for supporting product design and development of assemblies, sub-assemblies and components for engineered to order products using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.  Work in collaboration with engineers, manufacturing and all other departments.

Responsibilities:  

  • Independently perform design assignments for simple to complex items using design standards and tools, product knowledge, design expertise, creativity and resourcefulness for new engineered orders.
  • Prepare product design layouts, engineering drawings, Bill of Materials and other technical documentation in collaboration with Product or Application Engineers.
  • Ensure that designs use current manufacturing, assembly and installation practices that result in a producible product.
  • Perform conventional and geometric tolerance stack-up calculations to ensure proper mating of parts.
  • Communicate with Sales and customers as necessary to obtain information to prepare drawings and related documentation.
  • Write and process Engineering Change Notices (ECN’s) as required.
  • Develop and maintain product structure and multi-level Bills of Materials (BOM’s) using Milton Roy’s engineering standards and ERP systems.
  • Assist in training and mentoring of less experienced team members.
  • Assist product engineers with product needs and manufacturing support as needed.
  • Participate in departmental or cross-functional teams toward the achievement of corporate strategic goals.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills:

  • SolidWorks and AutoCAD experience required.
  • Experience in manufacturing, machining and fabrication environment a strong plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
