Job Description

The PEI (Pressure Equipment Integrity) Specialist maintains and deliver inspection schedules for pressure equipment and work effectively in a high capacity team environment to uphold overall PEI and reliability.

The purpose of this role manage pressure equipment plans and schedules to assure safe, environmentally sound, reliable and profitable operation of process units and utility systems. This includes monitoring, visual inspections, analysis, reporting, record keeping, providing repair options, change management, run length and work quality input for pressure equipment in assigned unit. Also provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance on day to day plant issues, during planned unit turnaround or during unplanned operational/equipment upsets. This is a critical position to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, industry codes, standards and recommended practices, as well as Shell standards and best practices

Accountabilities:

  • Maintain and deliver pressure equipment inspection schedules (corrosion, internal/external, reassessments, state permit inspection) for the assigned unit/area with no overdue schedules.
  • Maintain PEI record keeping and documentation.
  • Provide support to other unit inspectors at direction of PEI Supervisor.
  • Analyze collected data from inspection activities as required and provide Risk Based Inspection  reassessments, minimum thickness, remaining life and interval extension analysis.
  • Provide input on PEI technical aspects of inspection, repair, alteration, rerating, and testing requirements in accordance with Industry and Corporate Codes, Standards and Recommended Practices .
  • Provide all PEI work scope for unit turnarounds. Participate in turnaround work scope optimization and critiques. Provide technical support during execution phase of turnaround including directing other inspectors to deliver work scope within the agreed premises. The role requires significant involvement in turnaround activities which will require extended working hours including nights and weekends during TA activities.
  • Provide technical assistance for Corrosion Control Documents updates/revalidations and for Risk Based Inspection system.

Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
  • At least High school diploma or equivalent.
  • With at least ten (10) years experience as a unit run and maintain inspector in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry.
  • Must have API 510 and 570 certificates; API 653 or 936 are highly desirable.
  • Possess a good understanding of NDE techniques and applications (UT, RT, PT, MT, AUT, PAUT)
  • Must be a proactive and independent worker capable of integrating with a self-directed team environment, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Possess excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, be able to work with people and lead teams.
  • Must be able to pass all the physical requirements and be able to wear a respirator, work at elevated heights and in a confined space.
