We at NIKE Canada are currently looking for an exceptionally talented Senior Business Systems Analyst for our Distribution Centre in Scarborough, ON.

Overview: 

This role provides Information Technology (IT) support of systems or applications used in Nike’s DCs. They support day to day operations as well as lead small to medium sized IT projects and participate in larger initiatives. They apply IT best practices and knowledge of internal/external business challenges to improve solutions, processes or services.

Production support:

Point of contact for the day to day IT production support of the Warehouse Management Systems (WMS – Preferably Manhattan WMOS), Warehouse Control Systems (WCS), Printing and other applications used in our Distribution Center (DC) working as a part of a larger distributed team. This position will make complex IT application configuration changes in order to support a lean and dynamic business environment.

They will proactively monitor systems, perform health checks, access information using various methods such as application interfaces on various servers including Windows & Unix log files and SQL to troubleshoot issues and supply information to those that need it.

They will have experience documenting resolutions for a broader team and be considered the local IT application expert. They will lead and drive resolutions on high severity issues impacting the DC and will provide status updates using clear and content rich communication to senior leaders and others.

Technical aptitude:

Strong SQL – The successful candidate will have strong SQL knowledge with an ability to understand database schema’s/data models and write complex queries to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

IT Generalist – They will need a good understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) as well as a general understanding of Information Technology Infrastructure such as Clients, Servers, Databases, Storage appliances, Application Servers, interface protocols and the Network that connects them all together.

Leadership:

This candidate will be considered a go-to person to resolve the most complex technical issues experienced in the DC. They will mentor and train less experienced users and be the face of IT for the local DC providing solid consulting to the business. They will be experienced with vendor management and working with IT vendors to resolve issues. They have the ability to work independently and are self-motivated. They make good decisions based on facts; have a high tolerance for ambiguity and stress. They are comfortable leading meetings and making presentations with senior leaders. They help with prioritization and provide input to North America Distribution Strategies and ensure work aligns with those strategies.

Delivering Solutions:

Requirement Gathering – The successful candidate will have experience proactively finding solutions to complex problems; has an ability to provide new perspectives on existing solutions using lean principles. Interprets customer needs, assesses requirements and identifies solutions to non-standard requests. They will have experience creating functional and reviewing technical designs.

Project Management – They will know how to procure sr. leader sponsorship; capture milestones, engage and hold accountable team members; control scope; assess and mitigate risks; provide consistent status reports; handle transition management; execute against compliance requirements and implement on time. They will have experience in a matrixed environment leading IT virtual teams and vendors. They are aware of costs and assist in controlling costs.

QA – Experience creating use/test cases, executing and documenting unit/integration tests using various methods and tools as part of a large distributed team. They will be an IT escalation resource for User Acceptance Testing conducted by operations.

Requirements:

  • University/College Degree or related education in Information Technology
  • Minimum 4 years directly relevant work experience
  • 4 years additional experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent Problem Solving/Troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in Manhattan WMOS or other WMS
  • SAP, Microsoft Office
  • Oracle/SQL Database
  • Experience supporting various interfaces to and from WMS systems
  • Linux application administration
  • Familiarity with supporting WCS systems
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Strong Project Management experience
  • Ability to work with onshore/offshore teams, and communicate using virtual communication tools (conferencing, WEBEX, etc.)
  • Experience with Lean principles and methods preferred.
  • SQL – Strong understanding of how to join tables together, group, sort and apply mathematical functions.
  • Proven ability to tailor communication to various audiences
  • Very good oral/written communication skills.
  • Self motivated leader that works well independently
  • Available to work on call on evenings and weekends.
